Visited a Tex-Mex spot in L.A. and had such a great experience. The staff were really welcoming and made the visit feel comfortable from the start. I ordered the Mexican salad, and it was delicious, fresh and flavorful. Overall, a great place with tasty food and warm vibes.

Marix finally reopened, but under different management. The creators of Mexicali are serving up delicious Texmex food with tasty Margaritas.

Matrix Tex Mex Cafe in Los Angeles absolutely won us over. The atmosphere was fun from the moment we walked in. The music was fire, the whole place had great energy, and the murals on the walls made everything feel lively and creative. It’s the kind of spot where you instantly feel like you picked the right restaurant.
The food was just as impressive. Huge portions, tons of flavor, and an amazing selection that truly has something for everyone. Whether you’re picky, adventurous, or somewhere in between, you’re going to find a plate you love.
But the real MVP of the night was our server, Bobby. He was warm, attentive, and somehow made us feel like longtime regulars within minutes. He treated my teens like actual adults (a rare skill, honestly) and made the whole experience even better.
Great vibe, great food, great people. Matrix Tex Mex is absolutely worth a visit.

I somehow never knew about this place, despite living in West Hollywood for 15 years. I think it’s a very pleasant, reasonably priced tex mex place for a chill dinner. Nothing is particularly notable, but the food is pretty good, the service was very nice, and I appreciated the reasonably priced drinks. I think a couple of improvements could really take this place to the next level: more upbeat music, more appropriate tex mex decor. But all in all, a pretty solid experience.

Cute neighborhood restaurant with great service. The fajitas and quesadilla were tasty and the portion sizes are quite large.

All four in our group enjoyed our meals & the service was great.
The chairs in the restaurant are way too large and create a bit of gridlock.

First time visiting this West Hollywood staple and we were so excited to finally experience a piece of local history and the vibe everyone talks about.
Service was super prompt and friendly, and I can confirm this is still one of the gayest spots in town; and I mean that in the best way possible.
The chips and salsa were a cute touch, but the salsa honestly just tasted like tomatoes with a sprinkle of salt. The Short Rib Taco plate had one saving grace, the chile de árbol salsa, which was actually delicious. The short rib itself was dry and definitely seemed like it had been shredded in a stand mixer. Edible, but not something I’d order again.
We also tried the carnitas tacos, which broke my date’s heart with how dry they were. Served with raw diced red onion, which just felt out of place.
Overall, it’s probably a great spot for beers and catching up with friends, but if you’re coming for the food, it’s a miss. I really hope they tighten up the quality because this place has so much heart and history behind it.

Don't go here if you know what good Tex Mex is. As someone from Texas, this food was not good. We got queso (BAD) and guac (good enough), fajitas that were dry and flavorless and short rib tacos that were subpar. Prices were great for LA but l'd rather pay a bit more for better food. The house margs weren't the worst but do NOT get a frozen strawberry marg unless you like slightly flavored half melted slushies. Atmosphere is awesome just not enough room for all the tables and people in there. Wish I had better things to say, I really wanted to love this place!
Update 10/11 with response to owner: Hey I’m glad to hear all that! And I do hope you guys continue to serve for another 41 years. I can always Appreciate great service and great business ownership. Just had to do my duty as a patron who had an opinion! That’s what the review system is for after all. It’s all love and I wish you guys many many years to come!

I am.so very please that Marix Tex Mex has reopened. We had a treat time. One picture of Skinny Marqueriras just was not quite enough... I loved my order of the Crab and Shrimp enchiladas...everyone at the table needed a bite! 🤤
It finally reopened after 5 years. Only open from 5 pm to 11 pm.

An amazing atmosphere, providing a nostalgic feel along with delicious contemporary TexMex cuisine. And do not miss the sizzling apple pie dessert. I’ve had dreams about it. It’s so good.
