The matcha was like $10 is def the worst matcha, I have ever tasted the latte starts at $8! Then milk option cost $1.50 and the sweetener cost too. Do not come here for a simply matcha latte!

This place is severely understaffed. I love everyone who works here but sometimes the service is way too slow because 1 person is having to run food, make coffee, and be at the registers. Feel bad for them. Please hire more staff everyone’s suffering :)

I love secluded and hidden places in L.A., and Strings of Life Café fits the bill perfectly. I also appreciate cafés that are open until (at least) sunset, which is increasingly uncommon. Strings of Life is open until 6pm. I got their smoked salmon bagel sandwich and a latte ... both excellent and delicious. Also had a nice chat with Hernán.

Lovely place - had a cortado and vegan pastry - both were excellent. Sat outside in the courtyard which was lovely too if it hadn’t been for the VERY LOUD music. There was loud music inside the place too but that is to be expected and unfortunately there were speakers outside too which made the experience very stressful. Perhaps they were looking for a faster turnaround?

This cafe used to be great and has sadly dropped the ball! It’s been a while since I’ve visited and was saddened by how bad it was yesterday. I ordered a flat white and a pastry. The flat white was awful !! Very sorry excuse for one, boiling hot, burnt, bitter, and milk was not textured and no micro foam. The pastry was at least a couple of days old. Tables were not cleared, staff were more concerned with talking to each other.

Ive been here quite the few times as I work on the block. Unfortunately this business has dropped the ball in several different ways. I think the most irritating part about all this, is that their phone number doesn't work, their emails bounce back, there is no service number to criticize them. Yes, criticize, because as a business you want the good news and bad news. I have stopped recommending this business to my fellow colleagues. You're not reliable and refuse to accept opinions and criticism. Close your store please.

I work in the area and often eat here during my lunch break. The food is really good and affordable. The staff is professional, welcoming and friendly, especially Tonio. I highly recommend this place.

I’ve been here many times and keep hoping the food will be better, but I can officially say that all the menu items I’ve tried over the last year are bad every time.

Mediocre at best and godawful at worst.

That wouldn’t be so bad but everything is grossly overpriced. $17.76 for a croissant w/ham+cheese after tax and tip. A CROISSANT!

Also they appear to have sanitation issues and I’ve just read some very scary reviews about those issues here.

It’s a shame because the atmosphere here is great and the service is too, and I love to work here.

But the food is just inexcusably bad even if it was cheap, let alone for the exorbinant prices they’re charging.

Save your money and your calories and go literally anywhere else

This place looks good but it definitely doesn’t taste good! Food is not great and prices are sky high. Pass on it and go to the great options that are in the immediate vicinity (great white, urth, community goods)

i love this place! we’re visiting LA and were hoping to grab some food and coffee near melrose ave and all the cafes were SO busy until we stumbled across SOL
we ordered the vegetarian burrito bowl and bacon & cheese croissant and they were both amazing
my iced americano was also delicious
the store is so cute and not busy and spacious with lots of indoor and outdoor seating
the baristas and music were also amazing would 10/10 recommend
