I loved this place. Everyone there were so welcoming and the Taisho (The head chef) was super entertaining and made me feel like I’ve been there before. They are so proud of what they provide and all the fish are coming from Japan. Not only they are coming from Japan but also coming by first class over night shipping. They take care of their fish so well and I was so impressed when I ate.I’m so picky when it comes to Shari (rice) and yes! They use Akashari, which is red vinegar and rice. Their rice is sooo fluffy so you feel like you can eat a lot!I’m so so happy that I finally went there tonight! I’m hoping to come back soon and thank you again so much for everything!Ah btw, their desert was amazing too! The female chef makes the desert and we loved it!

Having been to multiple sushi omakase places in LA and Japan, one should not be surprised in the quality of Sushi ginza onodera has to deliver. Quality wise, it is the best quality fish and most prestine flavors. It surpassed our experiences at sushi kaneyoshi, brothers SM, nozawa bar, shunji, and Inaba, etc. That being said, the price tag is also heft (400 before fee), which is quite a lot compared to the above places, nearly 1.5x as the abice excellent quality omakases. But that being said, if you are looking for the best experience in LA, look no farther. Everything was excellent quality and service great. Will be back again but only for special occasions.

Took hubby here for his birthday! We weren't keen about waiting outside as there is no place for customers to sit or wait. The service was pretty attentive. Every dish was delish, just wished there were more dishes. We felt rushed to eat in 1.5hr (was hoping for a solid 2 hr meal). The sushi rice tasted like brown rice, which took a bit of time to chew. When we were offered a special fish breed, they would show us a picture on an iPad. It would have been more realistic to show us the actual fish (I've been to places who show the actual ingredients). The restaurant had a simple design. Overall, glad we finally tried this place out.

Neat and quiet, pleasant ambiance. Fresh food and excellent service. Good choice of sakes. Thought there are many workers for ten people's dinner.

Amazing Omakase with Japan-sourced ingredients prepared by meticulous, experienced chef. Hands down, the best omakase experience outside of Japan. In my view, better than NYC’s Masa. Highly recommended. While everything was pretty special, I’ll remember Japanese Hairy Crab, the most.

Great experience. Food was phenomenal. Just missed the mark on 2 dishes for me but my friends liked them so it's probably due to preference. Service was great. My sake cup never stayed empty for long.

Thank you executive Chef-san Yohei Matsuki for an incredible birthday dinner experience at Onodera Sushi Ginza. First I must compliment the unique flavors that he was able to bring out and the well balanced flavors of all the omakase tastings we had. The highlights for me were the in-house aged Chu-toro that was aged for 10 days and carefully selected for the perfect taste that melts in your mouth, the exceptionally fresh Hokkaido uni, the special robust flavored red uni, the Junmai Daiginjo Sake and the chawan mushi that was loaded with caviar and uni but yet had the most delicate warm base that dissolved in your mouth. It was divine. This is just to make a few and by no means able to fully explain how much we enjoyed the evening. It's been a long time since we've had sushi that just tasted so good. The real kicker for me is that he is truly an expert at determining when the fish is perfectly aged. This is based on him eyeing the color of the fish and texture. When fish is dry aged, it means the enzyme has broken down the meat cells, however there is a fine line between dry aged and spoiled, especially it is something you can not achieve or eat at any other regular sushi restaurant. It deserves the Michelin ratings and is truly a wonderful experience. The service and staff here are wonderful. They are attentive, polite, and provide world class service fully explaining every dish with regional maps and detailed pictures so you will not miss anything. It becomes a learning experience that can take your taste buds and your mind traveling to regions of Japan. You also get to enjoy the different kinds of uni, and fishes directly from Japan too. Wasabi served here is older than 5 yrs old, the tuna is between 10-15yrs old. The rice uses special red rice vinegar. The sauces made in house are very flavorful, deep but not over powering. And each kind of fish is prepared in a method that maximizes its flavor profile. The chefs are very nice and attentive even when they are fully focused on their craft. I appreciate their mastery of Japanese cuisine. Finally the ambiance is very suitable for a relaxing evening with elevated dishes. The nice wood bar table, and matching seats already reflected traditional Japanese minimalist designs. There's even thoughtful shelf to put your things under the bar table instead of hooks that have always been a source of knee bruises for us women who like to cross our legs. Thoughtful architecture! This place was so nice, it just added more to the enjoyment of our amazing meal.

Used to be a regular here, pound-for-pound probably the best sushi place in LA. Food is a 4.5/5.However, things have changed since the pandemic...Pre-pandemic, meals were 280/person, now they're 400. I get inflation, but absolutely NOTHING has changed from the menu, as the staff would admit. On top of this, they probably serve the least amount of food compared to the other omakase places in LA. I could eat 2 of their courses and still have room for seconds - and no, I don't usually eat a lot, any other place I'd walk out from full without add-ons.Even after all the above, I still kept coming back. That was until the last few times. As a preface, at the end of the sushi course, the chef would usually ask you if you were full, and gave you the option of adding a few more pieces of nigiri if you'd like (of course at an added cost) - but this was no longer the case. After the short, overpriced meal, I had asked to get a couple more pieces and they said they no longer do that - I'd have to call a week in advance to get more for my meal next time. And so I left, hungry, caught up with my friends, and had another FULL dinner at Bestia.Sure, try them once, and if you do go, eat something beforehand.

Impeccable preparation and service! Some stand out pieces of nigiri were: white king salmon, monk fish, unagi & black throat. Great experience even though the pricing is on the higher side for omakase.Parking: Parking lot about 30 Ft from the door of the restaurant.
