What a great surprise dinner. I attended 6pm Mass at St Jerome church, found this place on Google Maps, then walked 3 minutes from the church to the restaurant.

Salad came with house made Italian Dressing and it had chickpeas. I had never heard of that, but it works. It also came with Fresh Garlic bread...amazing start to the meal (1 for 1).

The server, Paris (her name), recommended the Shrimp & Crab Ravioli in Lemon Dill Cream Sauce. I ordered it. Upon first bit, it was obvious that the pasta was also house made, NOT from a frozen Sysco foods bag. The Ravioli also came with fresh Garlic Bread. This dish was incredible. (2 for 2).

I asked if dessert was available. Paris recommended Tiramisu. I was hesitant because I have never had Tiramisu that I liked, but she assured me it was really good and based on the Salad and the Ravioli, I decided to take a chance. She then recommended Cappuccino to go with it. How could I resist? The Tiramisu was DEEELISH and the Cappuccino, hand-crafted by Paris, was on point! (3 for 3).

The owner, whose station was adjacent to the table I sat at, said the restaurant opened in 1960 and he bought it 26 years ago. It has a capacity of 36 diners max, a very small restaurant, that the local neighborhood has kept out of the greater LAX public eye for 65 years, a well-kept secret.

If you are ever traveling through LAX and staying at an LAX hotel (as I am tonight), it is well worth an Uber ride to Compari's for lunch or dinner!

October 28, 2025, I got violently ill vomiting for over 5 hours after eating the spaghetti with meat sauce. I was dizzy and had double vision. I honestly thought I was going to die.

The food was SUPER fresh and delicious!
Truly authentic!!! The waitress was so accommodating and sweet! I went with a friend who has been eating at the restaurant since she was 18-years-old, and she’s now in her 60s !!!
I’ll be going back often!

This was a complete, and much needed, surprise! We hadn’t tried a new (for us) Italian place in a while, and with it being National Lasagna Day back on July 29, my guy came through on finding this place. Holy cow, since we’re already mentioning Lasagna, this place has the best lasagna that I’ve had in *years*. The pasta layers were perfectly cooked! There was no need to really use a knife to cut it apart. The edges were crisp without it being tough to cut or chew. The cheese to meat ratio was heavenly, and the red sauce (marinara/gravy/whatever you choose to call it) was deep. The dishes we got the sauce on were perfect. Even for the mozzarella sticks. The Chicken Cacciatore was hearty on so many different levels with the veggies and chicken and pasta. The lemon sauce ravioli was delicious, but I don’t recall the specific ravioli stuffing. The Fettuccini Alfredo with chicken was spot-on comfort food. We also got the fried mushrooms as appetizer, which were stellar. They were perfectly battered and fried, but be careful because they do hold the heat from frying for a while. My guy is a cheesecake fiend, so of course he has to try it. It was imperfectly perfect. It looked homemade, so we asked, and while they don’t make it in-house, they said they do get it from a local bakery. So delicious and worth the splurge if you have the stomach space. Service was splendid and the guy was a delight to chat with. It wasn’t too busy inside, but there was a genuine mix of people/cultures that we really appreciated. The space is small, but the decor envelopes you and takes you away to somewhere other than a bustling urban area. Definitely going back.

I ordered the salmon over linguine to-go and the salmon looked so spoiled. Dull and grey I was too scared to eat it.

Ma and Pop type of restaurant - small space w/ rustic, classic Italian-style decor. The staff are phenomenal in service and courtesy. Had the lobster ravioli(?) as shown and it was very tasteful! The tiramisu was heavenly. Will definitely be back to try out the rest of the menu 😋

My go too while in Los Angeles. It’s been a favorite, since 1980!

We went there during our short visit to LA in December 2023. Was going to write a review then, but I forgot. This place is exceptional. Highly recommended.

This place has a romantic, cozy, found-spot feel to it. The server was so friendly and the food was excellent. The tiramisu cake was a little grainy.
