So we moved away to Rancho Mirage, CA. The Chinese food out here sucks. Any chance you'd like to open a new location in beautiful Palm Springs?

I miss your steamed dumplings so much sometimes I cry. Tears! Literal tears.

Kisses.

The food is very good, portions were generous, the service was friendly and fast. Atmosphere was clean and comfortable. I had the Shrimp, chicken and vegetables with pan fried noodles. There was enough for 3 meals. Enjoyable experience, I will return soon.

We've been coming to Lakeview Garden for over 30 years Family owned by Hai family. They are truly wonderful people serving amazing food with an equally amazing staff! Voted Conejo's best Chinese Food multiple times. Sauteed mixed vegetables in brown sauce, pan fried noodle with chicken, and chicken string bean, delicious!

I’ve eaten at Lakeview Garden quite a few times, and I want to be fair right from the start. Our first several orders were actually very good. The food was flavorful, the portions were generous, and it felt like the kitchen cared about what they were sending out. Unfortunately, today’s experience was the complete opposite—and disappointing enough that I felt the need to leave this review.

Order #1: Broccoli Beef
The beef was largely fatty, chewy, and very rough to eat. It honestly felt like low-quality cuts that shouldn’t have been served at all. The broccoli itself was undercooked, leaving it hard rather than tender. To make matters worse, the brown sauce was overly thick and completely lacking in flavor. It added nothing to the dish and only highlighted how poorly executed it was.

Order #2: Chicken Chow Mein
This dish was even more disappointing. The chicken portion was not even half of what it was just a few months ago, which was immediately noticeable. The noodles were smaller, dry, and bland, and the entire dish had absolutely no taste. No seasoning, no depth—just food going through the motions.

This brings me to a larger issue that I’ve noticed not just here, but at many restaurants lately: to-go orders are not being treated with the same care as dine-in meals. It feels like once the food leaves the building, quality and pride go out the window. That should never be the case. People are still spending real money on these meals.

We spent over $40 on today’s order, and quite frankly, it was inedible. That’s unacceptable. When customers are spending $40–$50 on takeout, the food should still be made with care, attention, and pride—just like it would be if it were being served at a table.

To give the restaurant a chance to address the issue, I called and spoke with the manager before writing this review. Unfortunately, that interaction was just as disappointing. She offered a brief “sorry,” seemed completely uninterested in the feedback, and made no real effort to address the situation or make it right. It felt dismissive and left me with the impression that customer satisfaction simply wasn’t a priority.

I genuinely hope management reads this and takes it seriously. This place used to be good, which is why this experience is so frustrating. Please remind the kitchen that every order matters, especially takeout. People are choosing to spend their hard-earned money here, and they deserve food that’s prepared with care and respect.

Based on this experience, I will not be returning or spending my hard-earned money at Lakeview Garden again.

This is a great little Chinese restaurant with the typical fare. What makes it above average is the lunch special. Very affordable considering how expensive things have gotten since the pandemic.
I would definitely go here again. There is plenty of comfortable booth seating as well.

Bad. Just bad. We’ve been taking out from here on and off for many years. At one point, long ago, the food was good. But the last three times we’ve taken out, the quality of the food was just rock bottom bad. Please note: since this is takeout, our feedback applies only to the quality and taste of the food, nothing more.

Steamed dumplings were ice cold and tasteless. The sweet and sour pork was hard and sticky and lukewarm The beef and scallops was mediocre. Scallops were raw and there was a tiny portion of beef although it was soft. The meal looked as if it was put together by an ameuter cook. It cost us about $70 for the two of us. Not worth it all. We will not return
