I will never come to this spot again! I already told my family and friends not to come here either. Not only are the employees rude, they messed up my order. I don't live in this area so on my way home to SD, I usually stop by to pick up some sandwiches. I asked them to put the pickled veggies on the side and noticed that there wasn't any in my bag. So I told the lady that it's missing my veggies. She told the other lady in the back and the lady said she made a mistake and put the veggies in the sandwich. I didn't want to wait for them to collect it so I took it as is. Once I get home, I took one out to eat and there was no veggies. All 3 sandwiches were missing it. I called and spoke with the lady name Ha and she said they'll comp me my sandwiches the next time I'm there. So now I'm back in OC and I stopped to pick up my sandwiches, they told me no and even called the owner. They said they weren't going to comp me 3 sandwiches, that I'm crazy. They'll comp me the veggies that they forgot to put in my sandwiches but won't replace the sandwiches. I was livid! I told the lady, what am I going to do with just the veggies? This is so ridiculous I told her to keep her veggies and I will no longer come back here! My family will no longer come here either! I'll just park next time and go next door for better sandwiches and food.

We are not Vietnamese, so this review does not comment on the authenticity of the food; it focuses on the flavor - it was DELICIOUS!We came around 1pm on a Sunday, and there was a small line placing orders at the counter. We got #24 noodle soup, beef cubes (entree), and a beef stew (with noodle). For appetizer, we got a few meat pies. The meat pie was flaky and flavorful! I liked mine with a little hot sauce (chili sauce from the sauce tray). The entrees are full of flavors! My favorite is the beef stew with noodle. The broth was thick with many pieces of beef and carrots. The carrots were sweet and mushy. I personally like it mushy, so it was perfect! The #24 noodle soup came in a red broth. Not spicy (maybe 2/10 spice level). There was a mixture of meat, including brisket, meat balls, tendon, pork sausages, etc. on a chilly day, it was a perfect meal! The beef cubes were on the lighter side of flavor. I really enjoyed dipping the white rice into the beef stew and eating them together.Three entrees plus three meat pies came to be around $45. Economical and delicious food!Parking: Private parking lot right outside of the cafe.

Great quick togo spot for all kinds of casual viet food but I'm a fan of the rice combo. For $8 you get rice and your pick of 4 sides. I always go for the vegetarian sides since they have a pretty good selection that's usually fresh. Did I mention you can also select soup as one of your sides? They also have egg and pho noodle soups as entrees for pretty decent prices. Plenty of tables for dining in but its all very casual so don't expect michelin star service or great ambiance. This place gets the job done with no frills. Please be prepared with your order and your payment when you get to the counter so you don't hold up the line. And for goodness sake please pay attention when they call your number. Seen ppl just stare off into space while their number was called numerous times in viet and english. So odd.

Prices have gone up and now you get less meat in your sandwiches. Half the time if you ask for veggies on the side they will still put it inside so check before you leave.

The cashiers do not serve well very rude. I am Latino and I always buy food here and they discriminate against me for being Latino.

Five star rating due to excellent vegan food.Only downside is the staff's limited knowledge of English which makes it difficult for us to order new food items.

Fried rice is good. If it had more shrimp, it would be even better..

Zero star overall. We were picking up something else in the same plaza and decided to go to this Vietnamese sandwich shop because we did not have time to go to another shop. Our first time to Banh Mi Cali Santa Ana and we were trying to study their menu to figure out what to order. Inside there was one customer before us then a 15 minutes later another customer came in. It was not busy at all.Regardless, the lady owner at the front counter was very rude and bossy to her staff and to us. Her staff were so scared that they were all hushed. Her staff had to whisper to answer our question because the lady owner would yell toward the staff and us. We were so confused why the lady owner want to scared her staff and her customers away. Anyhow, as we were thinking what to order, the lady owner yelled at us that we must pay everything first before choosing the togo meal option. After ordering and paying, the staff packed our togo meal then we reminded the staff to give us utensils. The lady owner from the opposite corner glanced at us and yelled at the staff to not give one additional plastic spoon to us. The staff reaction showed us how scared she was from the lady owner. Mind you, we brought togo vietnamese sandwiches, togo lunch meals and drinks. It was not free.Overall, we were very surprised with our interactions between the lady owner who was not only rude, unprofessional, and mean person. We wondered why she open Banh Mi Cali Santa Ana shop for. Is it just a store front to write off her taxes? Anyhow, togo lunch meal tasted mediocre. The vietnamese sandwiches had lots of bread than meat and it was rather cold. This was our first and last visit to Banh Mi Cali in Santa Ana. If we could, we would give a zero star and do not recommend this vietnamese sandwich shop.

It’s a shame… the food is decent, but the service is lacking. The lady at the counter kept rushing to finish our order, that I forgot to order what we really wanted. It made no sense because there was no else there but us, so I don’t know what the rush was all about. We won’t come here again.

Food prices have definitely gone up! A banh mi sandwich is now $6. More costly than what you can get at an American fast food restaurant.

Very rude cashier. She kept snickering at me and making comments to other employee while she was taking my order. I ordered a side of rice and two Thai teas and when I received my order it was not correct. When I brought it to her attention she threw a side of white rice on the counter near me and proceeded to grab it with her dirty hands expecting me to take it. She kept arguing with me about what I ordered even though me and my companion used Google translator. We were not the only ones she was rude to. Other patrions were complaining about how rude she was as well. As for the food only the baguette was good the rest of ours meas was horrible like the rest of our experience there. Soup was nothing but mushy huge chunks overcooked potatoes and carrots.
