This sushi spot is really popular in LA, so when I heard they opened a location in Orange County — literally down the street from my house — I had to try it.

It took over the old Dai Sushi location, which honestly made me a little sad. I was a big fan of Dai, but it was never busy, so I kind of knew it wouldn’t last.

This new spot is still in its soft opening, and they were offering some specials, including an omakase, so I went with that and ordered a few extra items. Overall… everything was just mid.

The monkfish liver came with this jelly situation. I like monkfish and I like salty food, but this was too salty — and the uni on top was really minimal. The fish itself was fine, but nothing stood out. None of the flavors really impressed me or made me want to come back for more.

Would I come back? Probably not. I really miss Dai’s blue crab hand roll with the seared top — that alone was better than anything I had here.

It’s decently priced right now, but if prices go up after the soft opening, I don’t see it being worth it. Maybe I’ll try one or two things again out of curiosity, but overall it left no real impression.

Dai was better. This place bought them out, apparently. No pickled wasabi, such a bummer! And I thought the seared salmon was good, until I realized what I was tasting was butane or whatever chemical they used to torch the fish! Straight chemicals! It was okay, service was nice. Tuna crispy rice was ok…. You guys need some pickled wasabi on the menu.

The uni pasta and sushi dinner were both great choices. The quality of the fish was great and I’d be back to have dinner here again.

New place that opened in Westminster - this sushi spot replaced dai sushi. Food was great and the service was exceptional. We were seated at the bar, ordered two specials and had a good experience. The appetizers we ordered (agedashi and karaage) were great!

Super fresh sushi!! Got the set menu for dinner and it was amazing. We also ordered the chicken karaage and agedashi tofu. I have to say that was one of the best agedashi I’ve ever had :0 loved everything about Tsukiyo!

Coworker and I ordered take out to try this place out, and we had high hopes. We were disappointed in the food quality. The eel on top of my roll had a lot of bones in it, and I couldn't eat it. The fish was very smelly, old, and not fresh. I asked for no onions, but there were a lot of onions in my order.

I started working in the area about a year ago and decided to try this place out. So glad we did. The jalapeƱo yellowtail is always fresh and delicious.

I really loved the food and really appreciated the atmosphere along with the music. I really brought me back to Japan and my love for Japanese music which they were playing all throughout.
I will be going again soon
