Worst Gen i have been. Slow service, wrong food was delivered, wrong amount of meat that was served and they will serve you more time if you bring a lot of people and when the server is going on break they didnt endorsed us whos going to serve us while she is on break. Some staffs needs manner. Sorry but, im not going on this Gen.

We came to this GEN a couple months ago and had a horrible experience. I read past reviews today and it was very similar to what people are claiming. We left so disappointed and for an AYCE experience, we left hungry since no one was coming by to tend to us.

I called and spoke with Ricky, he handled the situation like a total professional. Very attentive and listened well to our concerns. He offered to comp us one dinner if we would return and try them again.

We went last night and were attended to by Maddie who made her rounds on checking up on us. She left Phil in charge of tending to us and he did a great job of making sure we felt comfortable and had a better experience than what we had before. In the middle of our dinner, another manager by the name of Geri or Jerry came by to explain to us the change in management and how corporate is taking over to help out this location back on its feet. I can see by reading past reviews that past management let the place go. We understood and continued with our dinner which was a much better experience. I’m thankful for the staff.

Looking around and being that we have visited many kbbqs before as well as several other GENs, I could see that the staff is all extremely hard working. From managers to servers to bussers, even bartenders helping with customers beyond the bar. But I can see some flaws that continue to plague the place at no fault of the staff. They are super shorthanded and overwhelmed with the nature of this service. Hard to keep up with customers needs and demands. Hard to maintain a proper flow of how food comes out and the time how it comes out. Side dishes that I’ve noticed at other places are standards to start with where not brought out without requesting it. When they do, it’s not aligned with how the meats are prepared, but understandable that they are clearly doing their best.

Perhaps GEN should revisit how their ordering system is used. Perhaps a digital order service would take some pressure off the staff. Adding proper staffing would also greatly help them in their mission to pick this location up.

All and all, they deserve the 5 stars. The assistance from Phil, Maddy and Gerri made this a much much better experience than what we had a few months ago. I’ll be open to revisiting them again in the future with excitement in hope that they are able to turn this location around. Their enthusiasm and professionalism shows that they are fully capable of doing so and creating a fun and enjoyable experience for all customers if the higher ups do their part. Don’t leave your team in the dark and supply them what they need to continue to bring in your revenue and keep that strong GEN name.

Worst Gen in OC. Service is terrible. Place is greasy dirty. The grill plates they have contained residue from not being cleaned thoroughly so while we waited we can see the uncleaned grease make its way to the cooking surface of the grill plates. Rice is rushed and uncooked. Side dishes and sauces were never brought out and they had us waiting past the 3rd round of meats. When they did bring out the side dishes they only had 2 available, the mash potato and pickled onions which were like 3 squares of onions. They eventually brought out the salad but we were already done by then. Never coming back.

Just visit another site other than this one. There was practically no one here and the servers kept getting our order wrong, on top of the meats taking 30 minutes to come out each round. The servers did not remember if they even took our order or not and it took half an hour to get rice paper on a plate, along with just glasses of water. Bad communication as well despite us asking multiple times for the check.

I come with friends every couple weeks and the service has always been subpar. The atmosphere, drinks, and menu selection is what keeps us coming back.

We had a new server named Dereck and he was phenomenal! I could tell he had a lot of tables but he made sure we were well taken care of.

He’s completely changed our outlook on this place and hope this puts in a good word for him!!

Very very disappointed. What happened to this place? I don't know what to say. I tried my best to enjoy the food , but only decent food was diet pepsi. I'm sorry Gen, everything was just wrong. Do not bring korean parents.

Food is not that great. For $30.99 I feel it should also be better servings for a big group of people. Atmospher isn’t all that great and the service is the worst thing by far. We waited 40 minutes for a couple plates of meat while tables around us were getting their orders in minutes

Beast Mode

The food was good as always but the service, maaaaan, was it great! Last night, the manager (Seveh?) and the team were fantastic. The server was on point and gave great communication, and the craziest part was that everyone was happy to be working. That is a rare beauty in the food industry. Stake that on top of great quality meats and the usual fresh kbbq sides and you got the best kbbq in HB. Ive tried them all. Last night was a top notch experience. Thank you guys

If you guys don’t have a food item just say so, I had to order the item three times and never received it…….. waited more than an hour in hopes they would bring it after I brought it it to their attention again. Not sure why this location is like this. It wasn’t even busy

Honestly had a terrible experience with the staff and even with the restaurant as a whole. I normally go to the location in HB but decided to test this one out. Of the bat the table was dirty when seated but I looked the other way. I then noticed that our table was the only one without a light above it. food was terrible to cook due to the fact we couldn't even see. We asked the staff if we were able to move and they denied our request. The waiter was very understanding mentioning that they couldn't even see us either when we had our hands raised. We then brought the attention to the manager. When she came to the table she was like a deer in headlights not even voicing our concerns. She said she would include a discount for our struggles and walked away. We assumed the discount would be greater due to our horrible experience. We then got the bill for 4 people and turns out she gave us less than a 10% discount. Even the waiter was confused on why it was so low. DO NOT come to this location. It has ruined the GEN franchise for me as a whole and the manger is terrible.
