The star of Bún Bò Huế is the broth. It should be deep and vibrant, achieved through hours of simmering beef bones, lemongrass, and a touch of fermented shrimp paste. The result is a rich, savory base with a distinct aroma. A well-made Bún Bò strikes a perfect balance of salty, spicy, sour, and umami, with a subtle sweetness but this restaurant appears to lack all of the above.

Bun Bo was great! Che Dau Van dessert was the best, could not find anywhere else like it

This place is a few months new, nice, clean, pleasant. The young wait staff is polite and efficient, sounds like siblings in the same family.

Their bun bo is the Southern version of bun bo Hue. The broth is way too sweet with too much sugar, too much MSG, also too salty and lacking depth of bone stock and Hue's unique lemon grass and shrimp paste flavor.

The $15.95 bowl is smaller than competition, about the same size as the $10 bun bo bowl at Van's and about 2/3 the $16 large bowl at Ngu Binh.

There are plenty of protein in the bowl. The shank and tendon were cooked perfectly, but the beef balls are soft and grainy, not chewy.

Since the broth was too sweet and salty I had difficulties finishing even half of this small bowl. After eating I had a numbing pain in my heart, and nerves along the my spinal column and the back of my neck were tight in knots, agitated for more than half a day, indication of excess MSG and other stimulants in the soup.

I was about to order a banh canh tom cua to go just to try it, but knowing how sweet, salty and MSG it would be , I decided against it.

This place is not worth coming back to.

The Bun Bo here was very good compared to most restaurants in thr Little Saigon area. The menu is very very small. Only 5 dishes. The drink menu is triple the size of the food menu lol. I felt that the meat portions in the bun bo was generous as well. Overall, definitely worth a try.

My Vietnamese coworker took me here recently. Had the Crab and Shrimp Udon (#2) - OMG it was AMAZING. Very tasty, packed with seafood, and broth was awesome. He got the Pork and Beef bowl (#1) and said really good too. Would return.

Bún Bò was not the star ... ?

For a restaurant named after Bún Bò Huế, we were disappointed with the bland and flavorless broth. We tried their other dishes and they were much better. Their menu isn't too wide but offers a decent range of different Vietnamese dishes. We also found it annoying that they charge $2 for a cup of hot and iced tea when everywhere else only charges $1 or gives it free.

* Bún Bò Huế: 4/10 - has all the bun bo hue ingredients but could barely taste the broth
* Bánh Canh Tôm Cua Huế: 8/10 - thick broth and great flavor
* Mì Quảng: 9/10 - loved the noodle texture and flavor of the soup

The interior was very nice with plenty of tables and booths. The workers were very nice and attentive the entire time. They're located in Bolsa Plaza which is pretty small so it might be tough to find parking at peak times.

Recommend anything other than the bún bò.

Parking: Located in Bolsa Plaz but could get crowded at peak times

Bún bò Huế was ok. Service was terrible all the servers need to be trained. We were seated waiting at least 10 minutes to order and bún bò Huế came out without eating utensils, we had to ask for it. And the final straw was adding 15 percent for tip on top of the bill. We are not going back to this restaurant again.

This place serves some good Vietnamese beef noodle soup. The portions are quite large and I’m pretty happy with the taste as well! The price isn’t bad either but the the menu isn’t like Brodard where there’s a ton of options.

Bún bò Huế is really good. I can taste the bone broth in the soup. There are a lot of meat in the bowl; beef shank, chả, giò heo, huyết, gân. Definitely come back when I have a craving for bún bỏ huế.
