We went to this place because some old guy from YouTube reviews. I think he gets paid to reviews. He said their bun mam was good and I asked an old lady in front of the store to make sure. She said yes it’s good. I guess she has very very low taste. Normally old lady are very particular. The restaurant was busy and we waited for 15 minutes. So the odd of them being bad is very low. I am a big fan of Oc Va Lau bun mam. But peek hour is crazy there, so we decided to try this place. We try the bun mam next door at the Bun Bo Hue hot bowl and it was good; but Oc Va Lau is hand down #1. I must be clueless since they specialize in banh cuon here. Well their house special banh cuon is ok, I don’t get the pork roll banh cuon they put in the order. It’s dark and look weird since no one made it this way. Our 2nd order was bun mam; I guess no one order this. It came after we finished our banh cuon. It’s the worst I have in my whole entire life and that a long time. The egg plant is still uncooked, the soup is so so so sweet, and they use old rice noodles from a day before or something. The rice noodles are not soft and do not bend. It’s stiff and cracks all over. How do I know the rice noodle is not cooked fresh, because I am an experienced cook. The worst lunch I have in Westminster.

Bún chả Hà Nội and bún chả giò thịt nướng were passable and not that great. The meat they prepared wasn't grilled in an open flames like the Northern style, it's more like southern style in which they prepared the meat with some red coloring and the flavor was a little sweet!
For the bún vịt, it was ok, not as good as Bún Vịt Thanh Đa located on Bolsa Avenue & Magnolia Street. The duck meat was a little gamy, the broth was not as good as Thanh Đa either. Again, the tastes are not for us for those dishes. I will not go back.

I was worried that you were closed; I’m glad you just got a new location. Bún măng vịt and vịt salad are always great. I was seated within seconds; the food was ready within a few minutes. I finished them after 15 minutes.
To all of the reviewers, please be kind and patient, always give people a chance to improve if your first impression is not as impressed. Please help keep their business up and running to serve the customers.

Hong Mai finally opens again at this location! They are known for their Bun Vit (duck noodle) but any other dish is good as well!
