Stopped by here while we were in the LA for a few days. Service was great but the food is DEFINITELY NOT authentic. Ordered the papaya salad and Nom Khao and was disappointed. Both dishes barely had any flavor and was missing key ingredients. I can understand if this was an Asian Fusion restaurant but it wasn't. It's more hype than anything.

Tasty place, hidden gem. We were traveling and were recommended to check this place out. It was our son's birthday and they went out of their way to make everything smooth and delicious! If we had any concern, it was simply the noise level. It was a little loud because there were so many people. Maybe try putting in some booths or sound dampening panels to reduce the ambient noise, but other than that, this place was awesome! They received a fat tip from me which says a lot about their excellent food and service. Will try to stop by again the next time we're in the area.😁

I am Laotian and I was looking forward to my favorite soup, ka prak. Instead of getting the real Lao ka prak noodles, we were instead served pre-made udon noodles. The waitress admitted it was udon noodles. Soup was not authentic and should not be advertised as ka prak on the menu. The service and the decor of the restaurant were very nice though.

The fourth star was for presentation. They had all-around nice presentation, but the food was only okay to me. They used cocktail shrimp, which had brine written all over. The chicken wings starter had potential, but what ruined it was that it was fried twice. That gave it a good crunch, but it also gave it a bit of a burnt flavor. The pork rib starters were good by itself. The dip that came with it was too sweet for me. Service is very important and they were pretty decent (forgot an item that we had to remind them near the end of our meal).

Finally, I got to try Laotian food that isn’t mixed with Thai and/or Cambodian influences.
We ordered Combo 4: BBQ Mix & Sticky Rice and Nam Khao.
I love how both dishes were laid out together—it gave the meal a more coherent and thoughtful theme.
Nam Khao (crispy rice salad) was excellent, with the perfect balance of tanginess, crispiness, and a hint of spice. The salad also came with lettuce, though I do wish they had provided more, so we could enjoy the crispy rice wrapped in lettuce for an added texture and experience. The portion size was generous!
Combo 4: BBQ Mix & Sticky Honestly, nothing really stood out. Was it good? Yes. Was it special? Not particularly.
We’ll definitely be coming back to try more dishes.

Stellar food that’s exceptional from start to finish. I can see how this restaurant made it to the top 100. This is a homey type of vibe and the flavors of the food are immaculate. We actually had the chance to speak with Nok all while learning more about her personal story of how this restaurant came about. I believe that true stories such as hers are what give restaurants a place to live and thrive altogether. I loved the experience overall because each dish was a new type of food for my family and I. We loved the dessert as well, which was a mango with coconut ice cream. We had extra Thai chili spice, such a favorable choice. You must try and experience this for yourself, soups were on point with children options too. We will be back. Thank you Nok for your hospitality!

3.5 🌟 after 2 times here. First time, I tried at the old location. Second time, I dined in at Bolsa location. Arrived at 6 on Sunday, there is no waitlist. Seated in the back, they have curtains for most of the dining area except the back, so my spot was kinda sunny. Ordered 1 salad, 1 sticky rice, 1 soup and 1 dessert. Salted crab salad and sausage sticky rice are my favorite, spicy but cannot resist. Sausage was super juicy dipping in green thai chili salt. Recommend to try them (bbq meats were dried, so I not like them that much). The oxtail soup has a clear taste compared to the 1st time I tried this time it was less sour. Staff confirmed that it should have clear taste not sour. I do not like the mango sticky rice today since the sticky rice was not that sticky, little wet than usual. If they have coconut ice cream, I recommend you try it than the mango sticky rice. Our total bill with 9.25%tax is $77, Little pricey in my opinion.
