NEM RÁN CUA BỂ
I honestly ordered it without knowing what's in the rolls and found out it's deep fried crab spring roll. It was salty, but eating with the plants made it better. Still great flavor.
BẮP XÀO BƠ
I did not know about this dish. It was my first time trying it, and it was super good. It's literally butter stir fried corn and just simplely good.

Saturday 8/24/24 Lunch at Sai Gon Xua Cafe and Restaurant in Westminster with my mother and sister. Enjoying Vietnamese specialties dishes. The foods were good and reasonably priced.
Mina, service staff, was friendly and attentive.
Note to restaurant owner(s): to include English on menu so more customers will come. Currently the menu is in Vietnamese.

This place had new owner about a year ago, but kept the same menu with small increases in prices. Only 2 other parties for a Friday lunch, so it's not popular. We were sitting in front under the tent, where it was cool and one can smoke.
Went for a Bun Rieu Oc, $15. The bowl was large, loaded with lots of proteins, shrimp, snail, blood curls, fried tofu, served with a small plate of morning glory and papaya flower. It's a good value.
Proteins taste good, except the snails which were small and way to tough, inedible. Will not order snail in the soup in the future. The broth is tasty, typical of pork stock, but lacks the fragrance and deep, creamy taste of fresh crab in traditional bun rieu, which we can only find at Van Restaurant so far.
The shrimp paste smells half fermented, very fishy, typical of Northern shrimp pastes, very disgusting I could not eat it and had to move it away. Other brands smell rotten but in a good way and are fully fermented, tasty.
Will come back for other dishes but not Bun Rieu or Banh Canh.

When I went to eat before July 4, I saw that the restaurant often posted on groups that there was a 20% discount on holidays and even now I often post it but when I go to eat, I don't see any discount ?
The noodle soup posted with fish sauce also has many toppings, but the meal I ate did not include roasted pork, probably because it was late at night. Bun rieu mainly consists of spring rolls, crab, blood, and tofu, but no meat.
The shop has many tables and chairs, space inside and outside. Lovely staff, quick service.
amazing food, the most authentic i’ve had! it blows everything i’ve ever had out of the water. very kind people, delicious & flavorful food, and great patio space! patio is dog friendly, which is extremely rare in the area from what i’ve seen. bahn canh with shrimp, crab, pork, and quail egg along with mi & tofu and 6 cha gio was about 35$. great value for the food you get!

The food tastes good and is made fresh. I order food trays for parties from them. I call a day ahead but their service is fast and can even do smaller orders for same day.
Very good authentic Vietnamese cuisine; some dishes are even better than what I can find in Vietnam. There's plenty of space and a good atmosphere for leisure dining, though parking may not be super convenient: you may have to take a short walk from a nearby lot to work off the generous portions they give you.Highly recommend the squid noodle soup. If other dishes are 9/10 then this specialty is 11/10. Must try.
Parking: On-site parking is limited but there is plenty of free parking at nearby groceries (3 minute walk at most).
Fish noodle soup & salt coffee
Unbelievable.... I saw the waiter take 2 glasses of water that left over from a table in front of me and literally poured into a big bucket of water. First, I thought that he reserved the leftover water for watering the plants, but I was shocked when he used the same water bucket of water to serve a customer who sat on my left. I stopped eating and told my husband not to drink his water and got out of the restaurant. I would never come back or recommend it to anyone.

The restaurant is delicious, breakfast, lunch, and dinner are ok, menu has a variety of dishes. Delicious pan bread. The special coffee is Bac Xiu, the rich flavor is very delicious. The restaurant space is spacious and airy, with many seats. But the service to serve the food takes a bit of time. When the restaurant is crowded, it doesn't matter, but when there are few customers, it's a bit slow. Just the service, everything else is ok. The food is delicious and delicious, you should try it.

I don't usually post reviews but felt compelled to write one for Saigon Xưa on Moran Street in Westminster (somehow there's another restaurant with the same name on Bolsa Avenue).I am a single man so eating 4-5 days a week is the norm. And Saigon Xưa is where I find myself whenever I am in Little Saigon to eat.First and foremost the foods here are made with quality ingredients you can appreciate. Must try are:1. Shaking beef with elbow macaroni - tender meat morsels sautéed with onions and served on a bed of lettuce and tomato slices.2. Nem Rán Cua Bể - the northern Vietnam's version of egg rolls, make with real crab meat (so tasty)3. Bún Riêu - a soup from northern Vietnam with primary ingredients being crab patties, tomatoes and tofu. Bone broth is pork based. And if you're feeling adventurous, try it with snail meat.4. Bánh Mì Chảo - a breakfast dish that's served all day, which comprises of sunny side up eggs, sausages, mushrooms, pate, cheese and sautéed onions.5. Bánh Đa - A recent favorite of mine, another soup from northern Vietnam, again with crab patties, fish cakes, tofu and water spinach with a tomato based soup. Somewhat similar to Bún Riêu but each with very distinctive flavors. There are many other dishes but me being a creature of habit and a picky eater, the dishes above are what I always order. My friend also speak highly of: Bánh Canh, Hủ Tiếu Mực, traditional egg rolls. The restaurant's drinks are some innovative smoothies and shaved ice with varieties of fruit. But my friend and I are always go with Vietnamese ice coffee with sea salt cream (yes, even in cold weather). As for services, the staff are young and energetic, without being overbearing. Definitely a big fan of the services here.Try Saigon Xưa out. You'll like it!
