OMG love their fruit cakes Now they sell them w tart on the bottom but will put the fruit on cake instead. The cake is so light weight and moist. Fruit is always fresh.

Friendly service , suspicious area with loiterers but they don't pester you if you say no. Came for the coconut pandan cake since it's most popular. Decent price for the quality, will be coming back for sure !

I have been a loyal customer of the Van’s Bakery chain for more than 30 years. However, the cake especially MOKA cake currently served here did not meet my expectations & did not deserve to carry this brand name. Little smell of coffee, no almonds around, no rum added. Texture of the flour was not good.

I placed an order for a jelly/gelatin cake. It came out so beautifully! We got the assortment of flavors and it had multiple layers! The bakery workers were very kind and the service was fairly fast! They don't add the fruit and icing until later so if you come early, you might have to wait for them to put the words and decorations. Despite that, I was really happy with how it turned out! Definitely place an order here for your next celebration! You won't be disappointed! :)
Great exceptional service from owner and workers. (BOLSA LOCATION) I called other location Vans bakery off Brookhurst to order bday cake for my daughter. They told me to come in over weekend to place order/pay at the latest but when I came they said it was too late and couldn't help. This is poor customer service and Iwont be back to that location. I decided to go the other location off Bolsa and wow such a different experience in customer service. Workers and owner were so nice, sweet and helpful. We loved how the cake turned out. It was so pretty!! Thank YOU!!

I bought a slice of pandan cake ...its old and dry. I feel this place sells old bakery items. I also bought a taro bun. Its the only fresh item here since its warm and seems fresh enough to pass as new...it taste okay...nothing special. I also asked for a plastic spoon to eat my cake and the cashier had to thoroughly look into my bag and make sure I didn't have a spoon. She kept on arguing with me about one plastic spoon! Irritating!!! I will not come here again. No wonder this place is always dead when I pass by. So sad...it rarely have customers when the other stores around this Plaza have many customers

Ordered an 8 inch moka cake for pickup at 6, but then had to change it to noon, and they were able to make it happen! The cake itself was perfectly light and fluffy. Not too sweet. I think the cream to cake ratio was a bit high for me. I would have preferred more actual cake than buttercream. The Harbor Blvd. Vans bakery store definitely puts less creamSpeaking of buttercream, I would recommend letting the cake sit out at room temp for a bit before slicing and eating. We ate it straight out of the fridge and the cream was a solid mass. Couldn't eat more than a few bites of it because it was so heavy. But after we let it warm up, the cream got... creamier, the moka flavor came through and it became edible. It was surprisingly salty (?) with a bit of sweetness and coffee. Melted in the mouth. Paired with the vanilla cake and whipped cream flowers, it was so good. Still very rich and felt like I had to take a nap afterward.I also tried some of their banh baos on an impulse. As delicious as the cake was, these were the highlight. I came back the next day, just to buy a few more. The bun is sweet and fluffy, and the pork filling has an awesome mixture of textures (even has a quail egg!).I love the atmosphere and location of this store. The lady helping us with the cake was super nice. It's also surrounded by many other Vietnamese stores, so it's a one stop plaza for Asian groceries and food. For future cakes, I would visit the Vans bakery on Harbor Blvd, but I am definitely coming back for those baos...
