I love clams, this restaurant showed some clam options on their menu. I drove 1.5 hours to get here due to the menu and supposed ambiance.
They charge $28 for a plate of pasta with frozen clams!!
I complained about the dish being served with frozen clams. The OWNER of the restaurant came and very rudely asked me where im from. I told her where im from and she continued to be very rude and disrespectful. She YELLED AT ME AND MY WIFE AND YOUNG CHILDREN, and said there's no clams in lake Almanor, so I shouldn't expect fresh clams in my $30 pasta that tasted like salty water, rotten clams, and nothing else.
She refused to remove the items from my bill, so I refused to pay the bill at all.
I then came back, feeling bad and wanting to make things right. The owner refused to take the nasty clam dishes off our bill again while she called me names and refused to admit she was wrong.
Its not often I take time to leave a bad review. But this place is a sham!!! CRAP FOOD AND EVEN WORSE SERVICE.

Loved finding this hidden gem in the middle of the mountains last summer. It immediately became my favorite new restaurant when visiting Lake Almanor. We returned several times throughout the fall and couldn't wait to get back to the lake this summer to enjoy more culinary experiences at The Sandpiper. It's so clear that chef Jack takes great pride and care in determining what to include in each dish and how they are prepared. Jack has designed a menu full of creative pairings using fresh ingredients, flavorable balance of spices, and elevated finishing touches and presentations. Every meal continues to exceed my expectations. If there is a special of the day, it is an absolute MUST have and ALWAYS delicious. The family owned restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere with attentive, friendly service. I've noticed lots of repeat customers walk through the doors each night. I will absolutely be back again and again. I highly recommend this restaurant, you won't be disappointed. P.S. Please don't tell my grandma that Jack's homemade apple pie is my all time favorite!

Did not know this place was here...put in breakfast near me and found ourself at this cure little spot....fresh , homemade ..delicious breakfast. Breakfast burrito and hashbrown casserole! Next time we will stop for lunch!

We just made in time for dinner at this place. We were almost lost in the woods and was hoping to get something to eat. The host was amazing. The food tasted better than most of the 5 star rated restaurants. Definitely a must visit for someone visiting around this place.
We stopped in at the Sandpiper after a day of sailing the lake. What a fantastic unexpected surprise! The food was outstanding! Service was excellent and the atmosphere of this little restaurant tucked away in the trees was perfect for us! I will never take a trip to Almanor without stopping to have a meal at this restaurant. Absolutely the best seafood in the Sierra Mountains.

There aren’t enough good things to say about The Sandpiper, Sarah, or Jack.The Hamilton Branch is lucky to have them.The food is delicious, I felt like I was family.I only wish I lived closer so I could eat there all the time!!!If you are in the area, do yourself a favor and visit.

A bunch of dirty archaeologists coming in hungry and dirty and were met with the best meal and service any of us have had in a looooong time. They put their whole souls into their food and you can tell! Make sure to ask for dessert because they make it from scratch and I lost my soul in there
