This place was awesome super friendly staff great beer and food can't wait to come back in the spring or summer to sit outside and enjoy the features in the outside area. Well done to the owner
didn’t try any of the drinks so can’t comment on that, but food was really tasty- we especially loved the cheese curds and the cauliflower wings. partner loved the pulled pork sandwich and I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty the black bean burger was (vegan as well, as no cheese)
a little on the pricy side, but for the amount of food we got it wasn’t the end of the world
Great place just above the ocean. Good fish and burgers and outdoor space with fireplace ,ping pong and fussball table
Lousy cover band pumping bass notes throughout Shelter Cove ruining an otherwise peaceful night for the whole town. Poking into the venue reveals about 20 customers. Yet the whole town is subjected to their poor renditions of Jamaican artists.

Great meal
Mexican lager was very crisp. Excellent
Spicy shrimp was very good but the fries were outstanding. Belgium level!!
Overpriced and disappointing. Out of wine we wanted and did not hVe cocktail available that was on list. Portions of fish in fish and chips very small - altho very good - and the lumbermans lunch bowl was sized for a child. Very sad ending to our time in shelter cove.
Had a decent evening here, mix of locals and visitors. Jeanette the bartendress was nice (as opposed to some other negative reviews), the fish tacos were pretty good, the one beer I tasted was good and had a small pour of that.
They had the big projector tv playing “the sportsball”, outdoor patio had fires going to keep it warm despite being 50F outside and people were out there. Overall it seemed like a pretty cool place. I’m sure it’s very nice when the weather is warm.
This used to be (still is )my favorite bar in my favorite spot on earth. The only reason I’m giving it one star this time is because of my experience with Jeanetta as my server and later as a one unprofessional manager. Before this, I always felt like at home here, like i was part of one big family whether at Gypoo or Shelter Cove..really hope someone talks to her about being more friendly and welcoming to customers no matter where they’re from.
Gypoo, sorry for the one star… Jeanetta 👎
Gyppo is amazing place. I tried their chimichuri rib eye steak and it was mouth watering. Never in my life had a steak like that even in nyc! Yummmmm I highly recommend 😊 anddddd whiskey sour mocktail! Foamy top I really enjoyed it.

Loved it! How can a restaurant/bar in the middle of nowhere be so good? I don't know, but somehow Gyppo Ale Mill pulls it off. My partner & I were treated to great food & beverages, plus super friendly service, when we chanced upon this place. I requested a 16oz. glass of Chasing Rainbows Hazy IPA, for my drink & for my meal, I ordered the Dry-Brined Ribeye, with Chimichurri, accompanied by Shashito Peppers & a Roasted Corn Salad. Both the beer, & my entree were spectacular, no other way to put it.
My partner ordered their Gyppo Grassfed Burger
She loved the thick meat patty, packed with flavor, the fresh Brioche Bun was tasty, the fries were hot & crisp, plus she washed her food down with Gyppo's hop water, to drink, a beverage similar to sparkling water, but with its own unique taste.
When we walked in here, a live NFL game was playing, on all of the many flat screens, hanging on the walls above us, as well as a huge TV screen on the back wall.
Great oasis for food & drink, in a totally isolated area, on California's Lost Coast.
As an added treat, we passed a 2-year-old male deer, while leaving the parking lot..
Food and beer was great! Tables weren't clean though.
Great food and awesome atmosphere! We also loved the fact that they had a non-alcoholic beverage menu.
Must do when you have come all the way down to see the lighthouse! Stuff for the kids to do, great place to relax and enjoy your company with a view of the ocean. The fish and chips here were some of my favorite I have ever eaten, EVER. Trust my big pretty back on this. Dog friendly. Friendly staff.
Great good and beer. Always worth the wait.
