Unfortunately it appears it's more about the appearance of the restaurant than the food. I'm in food service and I must say, you cannot treat black beans the same as refried. It looked like something baby poo. The rice was cold, the server was practically non existent. If it wasn't for the HR Mgr, we wouldn't have had any service. I'm happy they have several stores in various cities but in my opinion, focus on one good one and then build a chain. The HR Mgr said this place was open for about a month and the servers didn't know what meals came with what sides, that's not good. Good luck!

We found this place on instagram and wanted to try it out. When we got there, we had an estimated time of 30 min wait. But it took about an hour and only when I asked what our position was did they remember to seat us. People that came after us were already done with their meal when we sat down. They took long to take our order and long to bring our food out. I honestly felt like we weren’t their top priority since everyone else was drinking at the restaurant. The food wasn’t great at all, at least from the hype instagram showed. I really wanted to love this place but my experience was not pleasant and we felt ignored from the time we arrived.
TERRIBLE, PLEASE DON'T GO HERE!!! Our group had a reservation so we were seated immediately, but everything went downhill after that. The mimosas had no descriptions under the names so we asked our server about them and she got them mixed up, so we ended up getting the ones we didn't want. Food came fast but the chilaquiles were underwhelming. Sangria was watered down. I think the only good thing was the café de olla. Also we had a birthday in our crew and the servers never came around with the birthday shot we requested ?Then our waitress forgot about us for a while when we just wanted to get the check and leave. We were in no rush but we saw that there was a long line of people waiting to be seated and there was no sense of urgency from the staff to get us out of there to accomodate the others.Like another reviewer said, Kalaveras is also trash, but at least it's better than this place. ?

Gourmet food prices, Taco Bell quality. Anyone that calls this high quality food has no idea what fine dining is. Drinks are diabetes on a glass. Server, Javier A. Was super nice and patient… other than that, I would never return to this place. Kalaberas is way better quality and mind you that place is gross also. Save your time and money, You’re welcome, end of story
Too cramped . Servers were vague with description of plates. Only outside patio seating . Other business customers walking right in the middle of dining area . Greeter didn't make you feel welcome . Food overpriced for what it is. Parking is far away. Chairs are metal and all wobbly same as tables .
I have to change my 5 star review. Took some friends over because my first time there was a great experience. Today was very disappointed. I understand that they are upgrading part of the restaurant but service should not be impacted like it was. Did not have any margaritas only drinks with Champagne. Besides that, the service was not good. Missed some of the items in our orders. Took long to get beers, mind you, it was in a bottle and had to ask for it.

Everything was lit! The food, the drinks, music, it was a vibe. Even though they are under a remodel they had the outside nicely set up. We had some quesa birria, ceviche, steak chilaquiles, taquitos de pollo, chips and 3 different salsas and it was all so flavorful and delicious. Definitely check them out!

Even though we had reservations, we were called 30 minutes before arriving and told we would not be served. I understand it was raining but the caller was short, didn't even let me get a word in. Went to another place down the street and had a great experience.
The venue is under renovation at this time. They only have outdoor seating and about to rain, so they kind of rushed us out of there since they don't have anywhere else to place you.
expecting to go out and enjoy the evening with food and drinks I was extremely disappointed with the service of the place. the waitress went missing when I had a question about my bill and how it wasn't adding up. then the manager was rude and disrespectfulI don't recommend giving this place your money.

Solo fui a cenar por mi aniversario, todo súper bien respectó a la comida, excepto el arroz...estaba baboso y crudo, no me lo comí. Pero el mango ceviche y el cocktail de camarón 100%??
This place was cute and disappointing at the same time. The hostess/server was odd. Most places have a bubbly/friendly person greet you. Not here. Most walk around looking so serious and upset. We got there and ordered. Waited. Waited some more. I had to ask for the chips and salsa. Waited some more. When my food came it had a hair.. finally got the chips and salsa btw the best thing in there is the chips. Very nice, crunchy and warm. No spice at all. Mexican food has to be spicy or at least have some spicy salsa available. I asked for salt and salsa to give it a better taste. Never got the salsa. Overall I think it's cute, definitely expected more. The food is average, the michelada is Clamato and beer. That's it!
Great food and great service! A Toda Madre never disappoints. If you haven't checked it out yet, you are missing out.

First time here. I can say food was delicious but they do lack in service. We order our food while waiting for our guest. Once our guest arrived they order there food too. Our guest got their food first while we waited 45 min to get my food (1 dish). Our guest waited for my dish so we can all eat together. I had to ask the waiter twice where was my food while she was chatting with friends carrying someones baby. The waiter told me they were behind in the kitchen. Once my food arrive we all ate. Cons; music was very loud, waiters need to keep up with their orders. I would've gave them higher stars but this was not acceptable.
This is my second time at this place and still not impressed. The servers are not very friendly, they are stuck up. The food is so expensive for no reason! Like $18 for a burrito? Or $21 for ramen? Like why? The drinks are pretty decent and the presentation is awesome which is the only reason I wanted to come back. There was a Dj when we were there and he played all the jams so we were vibin'. Definitely not my favorite place, but convenient since I live in Whittier.
