“First visit here. Absolutely loved it. The albacore sashimi should really be renamed a carpaccio. Thinly sliced premium seared albacore with a tangy delicious ponzu sauce. With more than 10 slices, it's the perfect delicacy to share with someone special. Everything else here was super fresh and tasty. The ambience is dark & comfy and the customer service was friendly, quick & efficient. I found my new favorite spot for sushi.”

“Went here with a business associate for a super late lunch and was surprised at the options. We were both starving but had a long drive back home, so wanted something filling but still light enough to not cause food coma. The customizable options made it easy to order. Both of us split a bowl and mushrooms tacos on gluten free tortillas. They splits -plated our food so that was really nice that we did not have to.The Tacos had amazing flavors, we asked to add pickled onions to additional tang. It was great. The bowl with tofu and brown rice, while good could use a little bit more flavoring. We got the dressing on the side that added some depth, but I feel something else can be added to the bowl to up the umami flavors.Overall a good choice. Pricing was a bit on th higher side , unfortunately, in-line with most places these days.Vegetarian options: Very customizable options.”

“Amazing service provided by Cari, she was so attentive & she had the best recommendations. Based on her recommendations, we tried the Special Coffee Flight with Oatmilk, Americano, Pastor Omelette, Chilaquiles Verdes with Chicken, and Nutella French Toast. We will start with the Special Coffee Flight which consisted of 4 sweet drinks: Mazapán iced coffee, Horchata iced coffee, Pistachio iced coffee and Abuelita iced coffee. The Mazapán iced coffee was a little textured for me since it had chunks of Mazapán in it and I wasn’t a fan. The Horchata iced coffee was satisfying & I loved it. It was the right amount of bittersweet. The Pistachio iced coffee was way too sweet & had only a touch of pistachio. The Abuelita iced coffee was on the bitter side since it tasted like straight cocoa. Americano was a simple brew.Pastor Omelette was delicious and super filling. It was packed with meat & had the right red salsa to compliment it. Chilaquiles Verdes were also delicious but not spicy. You definitely need to order more salsa on the side if you want them on the wet side however the chicken was a perfect addition. Nutella French Toast was top tier!! It was the star of the show although it was sweet.. the fried plantains took it to another level. The slices were huge and easily shareable amongst 2 people.Overall listen to your servers, Thank you Cari for the amazing suggestions & letting us know that this establishment is known for appealing to the sweet tooth. Next time I will ask for an Americano or espresso since I enjoy my heavy coffee flavored drinks. I will definitely be returning to this location or another as they are so welcoming & keep you updated with their wait time. You could wait 45 mins to be seated so join the waitlist in advanced through the Yelp app. Also once seated they will bring your food as quickly as possible.”

“First time trying this place, I brought my Aunt and wife for lunch and the ambiance is great open concept with heaters outside if it's cold but the decor is great also the music playing gets you in that relaxing mood. Service is all about the customers and if you have any questions everyone is willing to help. Menu is great because everything is made fresh and if you get the app while you are there, they have a point system and getting points also gives you certain items either free or on a discount. I got the app and in return we received free order of fries, they were delicious they also gave us free fried chips and pickles they made there and I'm not a fan of pickles but they might have changed that because I couldn't stop eating them. My wife and Aunt had the Southwestern chicken salad looked very good and I had the chopped chicken salad that was very tasty as well. To drink we all had the blackberry lemonade and it was very good. I can honestly say we will be back again and try other items on their menu. I didn't get to take pictures of my wife's and aunt's salad I was to busy eating mine, haha. Employees here are all about customer service, thank you for your service my family and will be back again!”

“Came on their first Sunday brunch BUFFET, which we were not expecting, but were pleasantly surprised. The American breakfast fare was pretty boring and unexceptional (scrambled eggs overcooked, potatoes undercooked, etc.), but the Mexican food was ON POINT. Chilaquiles, tacos, and omelettes made to order. Fresh pozole and ceviche. Bottomless mimosas and micheladas (I opted to order a margarita, which was extra, but SO WORTH IT. The Guavarita with fresh guava, lime and pineapple was AMAZING.) The service was great. They accommodated my stroller and baby solicitously (and didn't freak out when I accidentally spilled powdered formula on the ground lol). The manager gave us a tour of all the buffet stations (including a chocolate fountain). Waiter checked in on us regularly and refilled drinks often. The chef himself even ran back to the kitchen to grab some cotija for my chilaquiles (note: would be cool to have cotija and queso fresco for chilaquiles as opposed to a shredded blend). Only complaint is that they kept reminding us that we only had 2 hours to eat and then giving us a count down, like “you have 20 minutes left” “you've got 5 more minutes.” Why are you trying to get rid of us? It's not like we were trying to stay until dinner time lol. We had just one plate of food each and there were plenty of empty tables. If you had made us feel welcome to stay and chat, we would have probably ordered more drinks. It detracted from the experience and felt kinda low rent, which made the price per head seem extra. Definitely will go back, but maybe just order a plate off the menu so I'm not being timed while I eat.”

“**Review of Uptown Taqueria Wen Chef in Whittier**During my first visit to Uptown Taqueria Wen Chef, I found this taco spot to be a refreshing addition to the Uptown Whittier dining scene. The restaurant boasts a clean environment and a beautifully designed interior, creating a welcoming atmosphere accentuated by the friendliness of the staff. The menu offers a decent variety of choices, and it seems like the quality of the food generally lives up to expectations. Of particular note is the carne asada, which stood out as the best option. It was flavorful and well-prepared, definitely a highlight of the meal. On the flip side, the other meats didn't impress as much, lacking the standout taste of the carne asada. The salsas deserve a mention too—especially the spicy hot red sauce, which really hits the mark for those who appreciate a good kick in their condiments. While I might skip the other meats on a return visit, the carne asada is certainly a draw. For anyone in the area, Uptown Taqueria Wen Chef is worth stopping by, if not for a full meal, then at least to enjoy a taco or two in a nice, cute setting with capable and amiable service.”

“This place was fantastic. The food tasted homemade and some of their items were unique in a good way. I loved their Machete and Agua Mineral preparada. The drink was super refreshing. I also tasted the green posole which had nixtamal instead of the canned hominy. I liked that instead of two plain tostadas they were garnished with veggies and refried beans. It makes a big difference in enjoying your pozole. I also sampled my husbands quesadilla which was also delicious. I like that they make their masa based items with fresh masa. It makes a difference over the already, refrigerated, stuff. If there is a complaint it's that you are practically sitting in the kitchen. The dining area is small. It might be best to do take-out. I suspect they will have to move to a bigger location. They hit it out of the park with this place!”

“I do not give five stars for hamburgers you cannot order rare medium rare medium medium well or well.. if they don't ask you how you want your burger it means one the damn thing is so thin it'll be over in 3 seconds when they flip it.. and in and out has a burger the size of a drink coaster. Nothing to chirp at at all!. The smell that they walked over the freeways to get you to come in when you're drunk after the bar or hungry as hell is ingenious. Their french fries taste like cardboard that has been pressed into the shape of a French fry. Their milkshakes have little flavor. But overall there's still not overly priced since the New World Order has come in with the fake covid disease. And The Taste is decent. They fill the burger with giant pieces of lettuce and tomato to make it look big and the buns are well edible. We got lucky there wasn't a line this time maybe that's why they're getting a favorable review. We all know it's true.. but we still eat there for some reason? LOLParking: One of those lucky afternoons when there was nobody eating there when we walked in walk right in front. But by the time we ordered there was a line behind us.”

Uptown Taqueria Wen Chef 7022 Greenleaf Ave, Whittier Mexican • $

In-N-Out Burger 11802 Whittier Blvd, Whittier Hamburger

I would upgrade and get the hot pot and take it as left overs for $2-3 more bucks Pad Kee Mao beef (mild) was excellent! Even though it was mild it was spicy lol. Big portion love the amount of beef and crunch lettuce. Thai ice tea - it satisfied the craving but not the best I've ever had. I read one of the fellow helpers write this and I agree with her. Thai ice tea is still good nonetheless. Overall good experience for picking a random new Thai spot! Good food, got it within 10 mins, great service from Kaison. Will be back if we are ever in the area.”

“We have options for rotisserie chicken, fire grilled chicken, and other methods or cooking the bird. Well Juan’s does it well. The chicken was not dry. The rub on it forms a tasty layer that is not too salty or peppery. The potato salad for me sealed the deal. Creamy finely chopped goodness. Decor is quaint reminds me of small dinners growing up. You know the one with colorful fiberglass seats. The staff is very friendly and service is quick. Stop by and enjoy.”

“The only reason this is 4 and not 5 because of the music volume. Mind you this is not the place to bring kids it's too loud to enjoy a family dinner, let alone have a conversation. Regardless, the LIVE banda music was top notch! Played my favorite aongs! Service was quick and precise: you ask and you get. Simple as that. No runarounds, no bs. Best micheladas in LA HANDS DOWN! Oysters are reasonably priced and fresh as they can be! Love this place!”

“This place was extremely crowded. As usual. We were ignored for quite a while as we sat on the barstools. I do like their coffee. The green Chilaquiles breakfast it’s not the greatest. My black beans were served cold. I did like their pancakes not sure I will be coming back, but it was fine for a quick bite in avery loud place.”

“Absolutely delicious. I had the chili verde burrito - absolutely delicious. they have a darker chili verde that is super flavorful. They have a slightly different take on beans and rice here which are really good as well. Chips and salsa are fresh, and flavorful. Strong "a" grade.”

“Love this place super chill and clean. The staff was super nice and attentive. The buffalo cauliflower wings were so good! Had me wanting more , but the kitchen closes after a certain time. The drinks were good and well proportions . When the bill came, I was surprised in a good way. I expected the bill to be more for the amount of drinks that I ordered. The music was good. The vibe was super chill. I will definitely be coming back.”

“Went to grab some dinner the other night and we were really happy impressed. We had not been in years but the food quality and service was still over the top. Our waitress Ashley was so funny, professional and had some awesome recommendations. I got the NY strip Peppercorn steak and my cousin got the full rack of baby back ribs. The steak was so flavorful, the crust on the steak was sooo good and the steak was cooked perfectly. My cousins ribs fell off the bone and the mashed potatoes were soo good. And I can't forget how good the bread and butter was. Can't wait to go back, I'm glad the good quality never changed here.”

I decided to just eat at this place because it was too hot outside. The whole place was so clean and organized. I saw the workers always on duty with cleaning and helping other customers.
