“I was told about this place from an out of town coworker that has relatives near by. The owner/cook was very hospitable and everything was surprisingly low priced. Tacos were very tasty and well balanced. I would go back definitely. The only thing I didn’t really like was the parking lot cause its entrance is very close to a busy blvd with fast traffic. You have to exit very carefully. I recommend either parking in the back, side street or back in.“

“Maverick Coffee in Whittier gets four stars from me!
The place is super cute—it's actually a bike shop that also features a coffee stall inside. Their menu is definitely limited; they don't have a lot listed, but they do offer a Thai iced tea. The tea is home-brewed, which is a really nice touch! They also have a refrigerator stocked with a few different kinds of canned sodas. No food!

The only real downside is that there is no seating available. It's strictly a get-your-drink-and-go kind of place, not a cafe where you can sit down and hang out for a while. On the plus side, parking is very easy. Since it's right on a street corner, there's quite a large parking lot, which I'm assuming is built to accommodate all the cyclists who ride over.

“Local Fixture is my favorite store in the world. I love the fact that their inventory constantly changes. Their cook book selections are top tier. It's a great place to find unique and odd items. They also have an excellent selection of men's grooming/ styling products and my wife loves their perfume selections. I miss the feel of the old location but the people and products are great as ever. 100% check it out if you're in the area.“

“I went to Aloha Stacks for breakfast on July 3rd. When I got there the line was out the door, but it moved pretty quickly. We ordered and got a table very easily. The food came very quickly and the wait staff was very attentive, checking to see if we needed anything several times. I had the chicken katsu and waffles and my companion had strawberry crepes and a side of kalua pork. All were delicious. It was very busy but they didn't rush us out. Parking is difficult...I parked on the street nearby.“

“My favorite place in Uptown Whittier! Great for a quick bite or cup of coffee, and unique gifts in the shop. If you're lucky, you can get a parking spot right out in front, but usually won't need to park more than a block away on the busiest days. The staff are all super nice, too.“

“Just came by for a leisurely Labor Day early lunch and Manny did not disappoint. We ordered two #3 combos, so 6 meats and 8 sides for 4 people. We had the brisket, tri-tip, beef ribs, baby back ribs, pulled pork, and the chicken. For the sides, we had 3 smoked beans, potato salad, 2 cole slaw, and 2 mac salads. It was nothing short of a feast! The meats were well-smoked, flavorful, juicy, and Manny was as kind as he was generous and attentive. He threw in 4 free sodas, free bread, a free side (we went with an extra cole slaw), and threw on a free kielbasa as well! We couldn't finish everything and the food we took home would easily make for an extra meal for all of us. We drove all most an hour, in the rain, from Torrance; this was not our first dining experience here, and it was just this kind of generosity and service that we experienced the first time that brought us back and will continue bringing us back as long as he stays in business.
