“Great ambiance and amazing food. I had a lot of food… falafel, spicy hummus, kafta kabob, tzatziki loaded with veggies, cheese balls, and baklava. All so delicious and fresh. I even loved the fresh pita and dipping sauce that was complimentary. From the manager and many servers, everyone was pleasant and friendly throughout my time there. I went during happy hour so the specials were great during that time. I’m definitely returning to this Mediterranean restaurant for sure. I loved it.“

“I was greeted by the cashier, it was my first time there. I asked for suggestions and she suggested a chicken sandwich and a hamburger which were the special of the day. I let her know that I didn't live in the area and was concerned that my sandwich would get muchy from the sauce. She offered to put the sauce in a container so I can add it when I got home. I would definitely return if I have a chance.“

Tl;dr: ice cream taste 5/5 service 5/5

While the ice cream was delicious we had a major service issue during our visit. We asked for 2 small cones different flavors but were given 2 cones with the 2 flavors mixed in the each cone. When we were given the first cone with tried to clarify that the flavors were supposed to be separate but the second cone came out the same as the first. Our next issue was that we asked for a large bowl but were given a small cone for the 3rd ice cream; we weren't given a receipt to see if we were charged for a large bowl or a small cone. Last issue was we ordered ice cream sandwiches to take home & instead of being told we could select what flavor we wanted we were given a random assortment of flavors. As a side note the ice cream sandwiches are smaller than you would think.“

“What a wonderful lunch experience!

Today my beautiful wife and I decided to try Fernando’s Peruvian Restaurant in Downey, and we are so glad we did.

We started with the Ceviche Mixto, and it was absolutely amazing. The seafood was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The combination of fish, shrimp, calamari, red onions, Peruvian corn, sweet potato, and leche de tigre created an explosion of flavor in every bite. It was refreshing, authentic, and simply unforgettable.

For our entrées, we enjoyed the Lomo Saltado and the Pollo Saltado. Both dishes were cooked perfectly. The meat and chicken were incredibly juicy, tender, and full of flavor. Every ingredient tasted fresh, and the portions were generous.

The ají had the perfect kick. If you enjoy a little spice, I highly recommend trying it. It elevated the meal even more.

What made the experience even better was the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant is clean, comfortable, and full of Peruvian charm. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home from the moment we walked in.

The lunch prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and the portion sizes. It’s becoming harder and harder to find restaurants that offer this level of flavor, service, and value all in one place.

My wife and I left happy, full, and already talking about what we want to order the next time we visit.

If you are looking for authentic Peruvian food in Downey, whether it’s Ceviche Mixto, Lomo Saltado, Pollo Saltado, fresh seafood, or traditional Peruvian cuisine, Fernando’s is definitely worth the visit.

“Excellent service. They are efficient and get your order correct. The breakfast croissant with ham, cheese, and jalapeno was delicious. The croissant was light and flaky and the jalapeno flavor wasn't overly spicy. The Thai Iced Tea was really good. It was just the right amount of sweet. Highly recommend!“

“I went around 8 pm on a weekday and it was pretty quiet, 3-4 tables occupied inside and one other car in the drive thru. The person at the drive thru window was very polite and made good suggestions. I got the bacon cheeseburger and it was great. The bacon was crispy and the fries were hot and delicious.“

They recently changed management and their customer service is amazing now and I'm her to stay for it ! Jennifer and her crew were extremely helpful in helping me choose an item off the menu and I ended up choosing an amazing hot Cheeto corn dog that came out amazing and hot . We use to go here all the time when they were on Firestone in Downey. I just think the green sauce use to be spicy but it wasnt the last few times we've been there. “I’ve been coming here since I can remember. At least 10 years by now. Their food is always consistent and delicious and priced well. My family’s order is a full chicken, fries, and arroz chauffa. The chicken is always tender and juicy and has great flavor, but my favorite is the arroz con chauffa. I think it’s genuinely my favorite food ever. period. I could eat it every day and not get tired of it 11/10. Now, we usually order take out because the inside is kind of small and we like to share with our friends and family (who also love it) so keep that in mind if you’re thinking of eating inside.
