“This place was fantastic. The food tasted homemade and some of their items were unique in a good way. I loved their Machete and Agua Mineral preparada. The drink was super refreshing. I also tasted the green posole which had nixtamal instead of the canned hominy. I liked that instead of two plain tostadas they were garnished with veggies and refried beans. It makes a big difference in enjoying your pozole. I also sampled my husbands quesadilla which was also delicious. I like that they make their masa based items with fresh masa. It makes a difference over the already, refrigerated, stuff. If there is a complaint it's that you are practically sitting in the kitchen. The dining area is small. It might be best to do take-out. I suspect they will have to move to a bigger location. They hit it out of the park with this place!“
“I only been here for breakfast. I ordered the veggies omelet and comes with avocado. Most places charge extra. They have a salsa bar and they bring fresh chips to your table. On the weekends they have a live band. “Food was great the only thing was that we saw breakfast items on the website menu and we were excited to have breakfast there but when we got there it was breakfast buffet and a dinner/lunch menu. Normally we wouldn't mind but we were craving very specific items and getting paying for a $40 per person buffet and a $20 buffet for our two year old who eats small portions just didn't make sense for us. Seems like the brunch might benefit folks with older kids or those looking to have cocktails with their meals, which wasn't for us. Fun place for a brunch date, breakfast brunch or girls brunch though!“
“It's your typical Mexican restaurant. Hand made aguas and tortillas when you order maiz. They have gorditas which is something I I feel I rarely see now a days. We had 6 tacos, 2 gorditas, 2 aguas and a dessert. Total came to $50+ dollars. Don't get me wrong, food was great, but at those prices you can easily go to another establishment. “I have been eyeing this restaurant for a while , and today finally decided to visit. It was such a great experience! Upon entering , you see the register directly in front and tables to your left. You place your order at the register, and find a seat . I ordered the "devil shrimp" or camarones a La diabla . Found a seat in the corner by window, and the lovely server brought me chips and salsa . Chips were hot, crispy, crunchy and the salsa was chunky with perfect amount of spice. I was also given the bottle coke with a chilled glass of ice. Perfection . I was seated only a short amount of time before my food came out. It hot, delicious, and beautiful presentation. The shrimp were big, spicy, clean and tasty. The corn tortillas were home made I believe. I loved it. Definitely a great hidden gem in whittier and can't wait to return. My Love and Mother both got the Menudo and enjoyed it for what it was. My Mom also liked their coffee and pan dulcé. My kids enjoyed their double Cheeseburgers and fries aswell. I'm always a sucker for a pastrami sandwich and it was super small, and not what I'm used to but tasty for what it was too. I really enjoyed my Orange Julius though.
