“A tremendously cute little hole in the wall dim sum place. As mentioned previously, this is not a big restaurant where food is brought out: you order at the counter and they bring out food piping hot and freshly steamed. That said, each dish was big restaurant quality and they were even nice enough to let us eat at their sole table there. The dumplings were balanced and well seasoned, and the pastries were tasty (not too sweet!) and well baked. Would absolutely go again.”

“Stopped by Bao Kee Cafe a few times and really enjoy their food. The shop itself is on the smaller side, so seating can be a bit limited—because of that, I usually just order takeout.

My wife typically places the orders online, so I don’t always know the exact dish names, but we’ve had a variety of their rice plates with different meats and vegetables, along with dishes like steamed pork ribs and fried fish. Everything we’ve tried so far has been consistently good and satisfying.

The staff are usually friendly, which always makes the experience better. Overall, a solid spot for a quick and tasty meal—especially if you’re grabbing it to go.”

Food is amazing and menu items are more than the basic pho soup and rice dishes. Try the bone marrow, the spicy fish, or the filet mignon with egg noodles! Damned delicious. Staff is also very nice.”

“I come here a lot with my husband and friends but today was very disappointing. I ordered a torta de asada and was very upset. 5 pieces of black aguacate and half a piece of tomato for the entire torta. Than my husband ordered some tacos and the meat wasn’t seasoned and half of the meat was burned. We are very disappointed we have never been disappointed before this is one of our favorite places to go eat. Today the people working their looked new we paid $37 for our food and are upset.”

“Lunch rush is always busy since it's a popular place. Come before 11am and you'll beat the rush. Vietnamese food here is tasty and the price is not too bad. Parking can be a headache during peak hours. Restaurant being on Garvey doesn't make the trip to this place any easier, but it can be worth it.”

I must have purchased a box that had quality control issues because I found an empty bag within the first two bags I pulled from the box. I contacted uncle lees and they went beyond my expectations and sent me two free boxes of tea! Well done!”

“What a cute diner! Even has a drive thru. I found them via Door Dash pick up option. Glad I came. I also really like that there's booths, will be back to sit in. Generous portions; compatible for price points. I got the yummy signature omlette and was happy to see they had a gravy option in which I asked for on the side with a biscuit. The gravy was not spicy which I appreciate. Definitely fuel food to get my day started right; though I might take a nap first 😅✅️”

“When I first arrived to this restaurant, I didn’t see any other diners and was quite hesitant. But soon enough they proved my ‘pre-thoughts’ wrong.
Definitely one of the best Vietnamese home cooked meals at a restaurant in the area. The flavour is so authentic that can transport you back to the Southern of Vietnam (mien Tay) in a bite. We ordered the lunch set for family and cannot fault a thing. It came with canh chua, ca chien, goi tom thit, ca kho, bap cai chua. Flavour was mouth watering and all very good value for money. This is such a hidden gem. Highly recommend!”

“I love this place !! I so enjoy the regular and the sesame seeds baguettes; the seeds give a delicious taste. Don't believe me. Try it. Their chicken sandwich has vegetables. The perfect size and the right amount of protein and veggies. Ah, I almost forgot to tell you, they have earned an A. Their employees are mostly elderly women. I love supporting them. 👏👏”

“This is more of a drinking place where you typically go with a group of friends to drink. Be prepared for loud music if you happen to go any time after 6, it's so loud that you can't even hear what the other person say. My first time going there and it was my last, I just wanted to try it.”

If you're ordering sugar cane, call ahead as it takes about 5-10 mins to make it. More, if you have a large order. Large cup without ice is $16 while large cup with ice is $8. On the pricier side but it tastes fresh & good so it's worth it for me.”

Super Pizza Veloz has clearly been a staple in the South El Monte community for a long time, and it’s easy to see why. I really appreciate that they accept EBT, which makes it much more accessible for families in the area. One thing I did notice though is that their self-service kiosk doesn’t allow EBT payments, so you have to order at the counter instead. It’s not a huge issue, but it does create a little bit of confusion when ordering.
What really stood out to me were the family meal deals. For around $43–$45, you can get two large pizzas, 20–25 wings, and potato wedges, which is honestly a great value for a family. Deals like that make it much easier for families to enjoy a good meal together without spending a fortune.
As for the pizza itself, the pepperoni and sausage pizza was a little on the greasy side, but it was still very flavorful and satisfying.
Overall, it’s a solid local spot with great value for families, and I love supporting businesses that have been part of the community since 1986.”

“Their roasted pork belly is to die for. It is pricy but worth it. When I came in, I thought they hang the meat too long, but when they cut it and gave it to me. It was piping hot and the skin was so crunchy. Flavor was better than most.”

“Ordered Carne Asada fries and a birria burrito. Fries are nice and crispy wedges! Asada was finely chopped and served on top of the wedges with a nice helping of cheese. Consome came with the birria! And they gave me a horchata on the house! Very nice service and delicious food :) $25 and it fed 4 people!”

“I've been going here for over 15 years. I've gotten to know the Hispanic cook. All the staff are always welcoming. The food is great chow fun, tofu with egg, any of the chicken is great. I eat lots of Chinese restaurants and this place serves different kinds of food. They now offer sushi rolls. Check them out”

“Went in to grab a few pastries before heading home, and I'm glad I did. The cinnamon roll was soft and had just the right amount of icing without being overly sweet. The staff seemed friendly, even though it got a little busy while I was there. I had to wait a couple extra minutes, but nothing too bad. The place felt clean and had a nice cozy vibe. I'll probably come back to try some of the breads next time because everything in the display looked pretty good.”

I dined in, opting for the 2 delicacy on rice for $14 (choose any meat). I got the soy sauce chicken and bbq pork. I’d say they’re both on the sweeter side than what I’ve been used to. Had to ask for extra soy sauce. The rice itself tasted old - kinda on the dry side. service was fast and friendly.
I’d give this place a 3.5, since I’ve had much better BBQ elsewhere”

“The service was fast and the lady was very friendly. Delicious food! My children got burritos and chicken tenders. They loved it. My husband got the wet burrito, and it was delicious. I got the camarones a la Diabla, and it reminded me of my grandmas cooking. It was spicy just the way it should be. The lady is from Nayarit, Puerto Vallarta. She spoke to us like we were family, which made the atmosphere very warm and welcoming. The aguas frescas are made from scratch, which is a plus. They serve menudo and pozole daily, which is rare!! So if you are craving those dishes, then come here. Visa and cash accepted. Large parking lot. This restaurant is a gem!! Try it out. It was a little pricey, but I totally recommend it. It was an awesome experience.”

“Wonderful Mexican market that sells fresh warm tortillas and tamales. They also have a full service Mexican restaurant and they serve menudo in the mornings. Got some delicious crispy chicharron and fresh guacamole. Nice wonderful people work here and everyone is friendly.”
