Went during lunch time, it’s very quiet during the week. Service was very quick. I had the torta ahogada with carnitas. It was very good. The sauce wasn’t spicy at all and more of a tomato based sauce. We also had the carne asada nachos, I wish the portion was a little bigger since it was so good.
Nice outdoor casual dining. The asada burrito mojado was very good, and the salsa verde was so good I requested more. Very pleasant and efficient service.
We loved it here. Small, quaint, place as it's "JR" but the size of the brick and mortar doesn't matter. The food packs a big punch. I ordered 3 Quesabirria tacos. I should have only ordered 1. There was so much meat in 1 taco. The outdoor seating was lovely. I would definitely come again.
Delicious authentic Mexican food. Prompt and attentive service
Waiter was great. But it would of been better if I could of ordered a cup of coffee with desert on a chilly evening. They had breakfast plates on the menu but we were told the cook didn’t have the “ingredients for coffee”
Seen better days could use support to help them make a come back
Expensive and ridiculous. One taco is 4.99 plus tax comes out to 5.50. Se pasan de la madre. Not worth it. Better birria places with cheaper prices
I go to the Havana House next door to have a Cigar & Beer. They have an agreement with LA Chiva to buy food so the Havana House can stay open. I usually order the carne Asada & carnitas nachos plate. Its very tastey. They give you green & red salsa. I think the red salsa is a mole salsa that has peanut butter, I'm allergic to peanuts so I had a bad reaction luckily I had benadryl to reverse the allergy effects. All in all the food is good but they should have a sign stating what oils they use with their salsas and good as a precaution for their customers.
Happy Friday guys, I had the chance to check out @lachivajr in uptown Whittier with my buddy @handsome_rob562. He challenged me to the ahogada torta. I got the carne asada and man this thing is so huge lol but let me tell you the flavor is amazing, nicely cut meat and the juice is just delicious, be careful with the orange salsa. It’s fire ?. #whittier #torta #uptown #fire #chivas #jr #ahogada #eats #eddie #LA
The food and service were very good. Plan on returning there in the future.

They No Longer Offer Goat Stew ! But Beef Stew Is Still Delicious !
Very cute little restaurant, the pictures of the food online look great and the service is great but the food is not great. Very little flavor. I would g go back.
Asada Quesadilla and Birria Nachos were great!
Great food. Reminded me of Guadalajara México
The torta was good but not great. The sauce to dip the torta needs more flavor. The size of the torta is good for the price.
