Ordered 4 chicken tempura dinners usually shrimp and chicken are included however I may have said it wrong so ate more vegetarian dinner that day, good thing is payed approx 1/2 what it usually cost which is still very reasonable for all the good food one gets, their soup is the bomb!

The outside looks plain but once you get inside it's a Very wonderful old school family restaurant atmosphere. Loved the place and the tempura was delicious. Staff is very friendly and the menu options well organized. Hardest part is picking only one! I'll be back!Parking: Parking on the main street or the garage behind the restaurant

This place has amazing food, but their hours of operation are terrible. I have tried to go many times and have not been able to eat there. One time I even clases ahead to make sure they were open. When we got there we were told they were closed. Super disappointed.

Been going here since I was little. Parents been going here for 20+ years. Love this place, and love the staff. The owner is the sweetest woman ever and tells the kids to call her grandma in Japanese:) Food is always excellent, would recommend 10/10

Pretty cool place. The staff treat you like family. And it's just so wholesome in the restaurant. You can tell the regulars love the place. I only ever get takeout. But they take really great care in preparing the food. The prices are amazing, but then again the portions can be kinda small. When I'm really hungry I get the sukiyaki because I feel it's the biggest portion, 'merica.

I love Amachi, I'm not ashamed to say it. There are few restaurants I can say that about. So let me tell you why.1. It's a small, quaint, family style restaurant, much like like those I encountered as a teacher in Japan.2. It is highly recognized within the Whittier community.3. The prices have always been respectable. A top quality meal for around the same price as many fast food burger meals.4. The food is consistently flavorful and traditional American Japanese food.5. The hosts have always been friendly.6. Though the menu doesn't change much, and is more limited than you might find at other commercially owned Japanese restaurants, the selection is really good.7. I ate here several times a month with my buddy for years.8. I've eaten Japanese food from restaurants all across Japan, and here in LA. County, and though it can be a bit busy, its small and hidden away off the street, and they have strange hours, it's still my favorite. It's one of those places I hesitate reviewing, because the selfish side of me would rather have fewer people know about it.PARKING:Amachi is located off Green Street in a little side pavilion beside Mimo's Cafe. You can not see it from the street.Parking is in the rear across from Amachi where a little alley passes. You access the city parking from Comstock Avenue.UNUSUAL HOURS:They are closed on Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday they are open for lunch, then close and reopen a few hours later for dinner. I recommend arriving 15 minutes before you want to eat, to have extra time to look for parking. The parking serves all of the stores in front of it.Wheelchair accessibility: Amachi is not Wheel Chair accessible. It is very small with little walking room between tables and the front counter.
