Absolutely LOVE this restaurant! We stop here on our way from Arizona to California. We literally changed our route we take so we can stop here for lunch! The service is always stellar. Somehow we always have the same waiter and he’s so nice! The soup dumplings and chicken fried rice, sooooo good! My husband always gets the short rib fried rice and it’s always amazing. Consistency is hard to find these days with restaurants and this place has it nailed down. PLEASE OPEN ONE IN ARIZONA!!!

I really enjoyed all the dishes we ordered here. The Dan noodles with short ribs were fantastic and we also enjoyed the popcorn shrimp. The stringbeans were great and I especially enjoyed our large order of cucumbers. The beef and broccoli also good and the pork and shrimp dumplings were terrific. I didn't realize they were serving alcohol and it was nice to have a beer to balance out the flavors. And its a quick walk across the street if you are seeing a movie.. The staff is friendly and it is a nice open atmosphere.

Awesome!
On our way out of the Village my daughter said she wanted to have some dumplings for the ride home. There were only a few tables seated so I said sure.
Half an hour later and we are still waiting at the bar for a 5 piece dumpling order. 👎
I’m being generous with a three star for the food because I hope it’s at least mediocre.

We’ve been to Dan Modern Chinese a few times now, and it’s been consistently great every single visit—which is why we keep coming back.
We usually go for the Dan Mein with short rib (still a favorite!), but this was our first time doing takeout and trying the Dan Mein with shrimp—and it did not disappoint. The noodles were still perfectly cooked, the shrimp were plump and flavorful, and everything held up really well even to-go.
We also ordered the Mapo Tofu with pork, which was just as good as we remembered—rich, silky, and packed with that signature spicy, numbing kick. And the spicy oxtail noodle soup was a standout again, with deep, bold flavors and incredibly tender meat.
We added some steamed dumplings and xiao long bao too, and they were a great addition—fresh, delicate, and full of flavor. Even as takeout, they held up nicely and rounded out the meal perfectly.
Overall, whether dining in or ordering out, Dan Modern Chinese continues to impress with its consistency, quality, and bold flavors. Already looking forward to our next visit!

Nice place. We visited for early diner, kinda of reasonable prices, probably $50 per person or so and service was very nice, or at least they guy who was serving us.

Was referred by my husband's colleague. Enjoyed lunch with my son. The food, service and atmosphere were amazing. Ordered the cucumber salad, pork and crab soup dumplings, pork chop fried rice and the short rib dan noodles...all very tasty. Loved it so much, we ordered again for dinner for the entire family. Very modern and clean restaurant with lots of windows for people watching.

Good soup. A chicken bone was left in it though.

We ordered the Beef and Broccoli, Short Rib Dan Mein, Pork & Shrimp Chili Oil Dumplings, and the String Beans. Everything was perfect and flavorful. The server was very nice and atmosphere was classy and bright. Definitely coming back to try the whole menu.

Be warned that only some of the dishes here taste authentic. “Modern” in the name of a restaurant tends to mean “heavily westernised”.
Oxtail soup tasted like basic American-style beef stew. Most of the meat was fat and I spent a decent amount of time picking at it. XLB was decent flavour-wise but lacked broth and the skins were dry. They arrived slightly lukewarm with a few odd chunks of dumpling skin stuck to the bottom of the basket.
The four stars is for the excellent service and the delicious beef rolls. Some of the most consistent beef rolls I’ve had in a while. Even came with extra hoisin sauce for dipping. Go here for the beef rolls, if nothing else. Place was clean and in a good location. Somewhat expensive for what you get.

Cold, tasteless, expensive food. Sorry. I regret that I wasted my time and money.
