My husband and I chose to celebrate our anniversary at Mountain House. It was our first visit since it reopened. We weren't disappointed! The food was delicious (all three courses), the wait staff was prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable, and the ambiance offered a perfect mix of warmth and elegance. The chef even sent out a special extra dessert to mark our anniversary. We'll definitely return!
Mountain House has been a favorite for years. First time coming back since new ownership. Impressed by their shift to even more finer dining. No more jukebox or tv in the bar area. The prefix menu was a change, but understand that from an ops standpoint. The food was excellent and presentation was very nice. Every server explained the prep process and ingredients what I would expect high dining experience. The wine corkage fee was a bit steep ( $45 a bottle, max 2) but better option than ordering a wine glass in the price point range of $18-25. Ambiance was nice - as always. Not too loud. Will be coming back.
I hadn't been here in years and I am happy to say it is still wonderful. The service was fantastic and the food was beyond delicious. It is on the pricey side but I'd say it's worth it.
Had a reservation in the dining room but elected to stay in the bar area. Good music and wonderful service and food.
I'm still dreaming about my experience at The Mountain House! Their tasting menu is delicious, with many options for each course that will satisfy any appetite. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the venison was the best tasting venison to exist. The fig panna cotta and pistachio cake were so rich and delicious, my taste buds will still bursting well after dinner was over. The views of the redwoods were a beautiful touch to the ambiance that made dinner even more magical.
The forest room is unique and a wonderful way to dine. The service was excellent but the food was mixed.
This restaurant was so nice. Second time since new owner took over. We must have had 5 different people waiting and clearing for us and they were all great. My water was always full, Main server was excellent, they made sure for each meal that the new fork and knives was on the table prior to us getting are food. Food came quickly. They explained our meal to us. High end restaurant with nicely dressed patrons, which it should be a this caliber. The fix price was $85 per person for 3 courses. Homemade bread very good. If you are looking for a high-end very nice place to eat this is it. Up in the mountains so dress a bit warmer but good view despite the fog.
Great food and service, pretty decent value for their tasting menu. A bit of a trip to get there but worth it for the special occasion or date night.
I have been to this place multiple times over the years. Seems like they moved to a tasting menu concept from pick your own choice which eliminates the choices for individual preferences. While to food was good it was not mindblowing, and the prices were high compared to the experience.
Excellent service and vibes. Food is well done. I like that there isn't any service inside the restaurant—I was able to do some reading and journaling inside. Everyone was so welcoming. I'd definitely come back.

It was amazing, but way too much food. Can only order 3 course or more, meals in dinning room. Next time will eat at bar as I like light meals.
This was a special night. Not only because we were celebrating our birthdays but because our food surpassed our expectations. This had to be one of the nicest prix fixe menu ever. From the seared scallops to the stuffed quail (I'd go back just for that) to the birthday girl's roasted to perfection Venison. AND though there was an up charge, the portion was so generous that she gets to have it again. Service can be a bit stiff and rehearsed but there are worse things to picayune about. The timing was exquisite. And the amuse bouche while you are waiting was such a nice touch. At the cost per person it's an excellent value in a restaurant that has brought back “continental service”. That second Cosmo (a-ma-ZING!) prohibits me from calling out our service team. My apologies. Suffice to say that this is no longer the original Mountain House that we all went to 20 years ago. It's a grown up, more sophisticated but not stuffy dining experience that will be redolent for some time. And, probably prompt us to return a lot sooner than 20 years from now. Thank you Mountain House.
Wonderful, expertly prepared food with fun & welcoming ambience. We are so fortunate to have a restaurant with such a high level of cuisine near us!
Found this place by chance, absolutely wonderful experience. Staff were very professional and made our experience amazing. Chef came out, greeted us, and explained the menu. Three course menu was delicious, would highly recommend.
Excellent food and wonderful service. This place has a bar area, forest room and fireplace dining area and you can request when you make your reservation.
