Very disappointing experience based on the reputation and pricing. The fried chicken at the Addendum was bigger and tasted better. This time the chicken was overcooked and tasted different. A salad, two small pieces of chicken and an ice cream are not worth $50.

Best fried chicken we’ve ever had and one of the best overall meals. A little loud when you first arrive, the noise didn’t bother us while we dined.

Amazing service and excellent food. Highly recommend.

The fried chicken is very crispy and the chicken is tender! The ginger cake is also good, but the price is a bit expensive!

We had a delightful evening at Ad Hoc while celebrating my husband’s birthday. The prix fixe menu changes daily and focuses on American comfort food. We sat outside on the patio. The restaurant’s setting, both inside and out is relaxing. What a perfect summer evening.

Chad our server was pleasant, engaging, and paced our meal out perfectly. Our food goal for the night; fried chicken. The goal was achieved as an add-on and we were not disappointed. Perfect balance of outer crunch and moist and tender on the inside. But I am getting ahead of myself.

The drinks were delicious. I had the Flor d’Luna and each sip was refreshing and stunning to gaze upon. My husband enjoyed the Spicy Honey Bee, if you wanted your toes to wiggle from more spice you could lick the chili salt rim. First course was the Anson Mills Farro Verde Salad with a lemon vinaigrette that played well with the other ingredients.

It is all served family style and we enjoyed the Roasted Pork Rack in a Fennel Mustard Cream, Buttermilk Fried Chicken (an add-on), accompanied with Semolina Dumplings (satisfying in every way), and veggies. So good. The only bummer was that I became full sooner than I would have liked. There was a cheese course with Point Reyes Quinta cheese that had a woodsy accent to it and served with a crostini with a house made jam. Every Sunday they have Mr. Keller’s favorite sweet go-to, a classic sundae. Small pitchers of sauces arrived; chocolate, caramel and strawberry with a side of nuts. So good. I agree with Mr. Keller, I never get tired of ice cream.

Thank you Chad and the entire front and back of the house for making my husband’s birthday so special.

The fried chicken didn't disappoint. Super moist with the best crust. Hot sauce was tasty and spicy too. The Gravy was ok. First Course was some fruited granola with yogurt. It was fine but would have preferred a ton of different options but it is a set menu. The chocolate chip bread pudding was a nice dessert. Great texture and flavor. As Long as they have the fried chicken on the menu I would go back but would hope for a more satisfying first course.

Was okay. Came here in end of sept. The food was good but very heavy and nothing special. Definitely does not live up to the hype. Pork Belly was meh. Their famous fried chicken, while good, was just fried chicken done right. Nothing unique. Went to many other spots in Napa Valley that were exceptional. Service was fine.

Had an incredible dining experience. Leonela provided exceptional service and went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect. The gluten free fried chicken was arguably better than the original! We will be back!

Hadn’t been here since 2007 and was nice to find it as good as we remembered. Ad Hoc is about simple, approachable food in a laid back environment. The portions are generous, the food is excellent, and you don’t need to win the lottery to get a reservation.

If you just need a break from exclusivity, but want a nice, comforting meal, pop in and give it a try.

Visited with my family as we were on a trip to northern California to visit the Charles Schulz Museum and checked out a bunch of the other sites around the area. Got reservations fairly easily here and were excited to check out a Thomas Keller restaurant without breaking the bank and going to his French Laundry.

The service was on the spot, all of the waitstaff were pleasant and checked on us not too often but just enough to make sure we had what we needed/wanted. The atmosphere of the restaurant is a bit on the noisy/loud side and the 80-90's music was irritating for my wife. None the less, the decor and setting were nice and they had outdoor seating as well.

Now, onto the food... The short rib was a bit on the dry side and I was expecting it to be savory and fall apart tender but for me, it was not. We had the gluten free fried chicken as an add-on and it was very good. The mushroom side was a bit on the salty side and the salad was large and it was for our family of 4 but sadly our two children don't do salads so for me and wife, it was too much but that's on us not telling the staff we only needed salad for two. The rest of the meal was very good.

So, all in all, a good, but not a great dinner at Ad Hoc for the money spent.

Dietary restrictions: Gluten free items can be accomodated.
