We went about 2 weeks ago our first time there service was bad . We didn't get a refill on drinks or see if we needed anything esle.
So we decided to give it another try our server Shawna was great was on top of everything . We will be returning hopefully she can help us out . Thank you for ur wonderful service Shawna.
This place is awesome, i came in for lunch and my waitress Liz helped me make up my mind on my order. She was so amazing, she was on top of it all, from speed to knowledge to friendliness to all around best service i’ve had in years. The place was spotless, the food was delicious and the service was spectacular. Definitely recommend this place to all, and ask for Liz.
Wanted to eat out for Father's Day. I felt so bad that my friend paid for the crappy dinner we were served. We all three order New York steak dinner. I am 100% sure we were served sirloin steak. It was tough and no flavor at all! The bake potato was dried out and looked like it was sitting around all day. The only thing that was good was the salad. I am upset that my friend paid that bill! Should had gone to IHOP instead
Father’s Day. Had a reservation for 8 and my husband made it Saturday at 12pm. Called twice Saturday to confirm. Walked in Blackbeard 11:55am and told 20 minutes wait. The little hostess girls the short ones. I call teddy bears said 20minute wait. Why? Had a reservation? So the little teddy bear host who half the time can’t or know how to sit people unless Frank is out there. I figured if we had to wait. Let’s go somewhere else. Went to Casita in Yucca Valley and we were accommodating. Sorry, BB. I would like a job busing tables there. Seeing the Teddy Bears are lost even doing that.
Have been to other Black Bears in the past.
This was a breakfast visit. Seated fast due to it not being busy. Waitress ask if I would like anything to drink. I said yes a coffee.
Then she walked over and started taking orders from the only other customers in the place. Table of six that were not really ready to oder yet. The coffee IMPO was an easy job before waiting for that table to make up their minds. I left
Food is good and large portions. Don't go during meal times. It's busy and loud. We went late and it was not busy
This is the second time we've visited this diner in the last year. Both times we received exceptional service! We showed up late one night after a graduation with a party of 7. They promptly greeted us and set up our table. The service was spectacular and the food was hot and delicious. We never felt like we had inconvenienced them by inadvertantly making them stay later than closing. Cannot say enough about this experience!
Amazing portions with great service David was an excellent server coffee was better then Starbucks I will be coming back in June for another visit thanks for a wonderful dining experience!
A nice relaxing atmosphere to enjoy food with others.

We were driving through Yucca Valley and decided to stop for a bite at Black Bear Diner. We had Jackie as a server. She was amazing and attentive and made sure our food was perfect! She came back to check on refills and our order-excellent customer service and amazing food.

During our initial walk in, there was no staff visible but about 5 other tables were seated. Eventually a lady came out sat us down and said she'd be right with us. Quite a few minutes go by and I started looking around and see another lady appear from the kitchen area. We make eye contact and she eventually comes over after applying lotion.
She approaches the table and asks if we are ready to order. We said yes and ordered a meal for my toddler(mini volcano), myself (classic benedict), and boyfriend (the grizz). Total cost was about $65 for our bill which, I wouldn't have had a problem with if the service was there.
She only gave 2 straws, 2 silverware when there is clearly 3 of us at the table. She never once checked on us to see how the meal was or if we needed anything else or to top of drinks.
Once the food was served, we didn't see our server until we had to whistle and wave her down at the beverage making station where she was just casually chatting away with her coworker.
When she finally came to the table she did apologize but once again left us hanging at the front register, which really pissed me off and lead to this review. Because when she dropped the boxes and check, my boyfriend told her we were in a hurry to make an appointment.
It's the utter disrespect and disregard for people's time. Especially when someone speaks up and says hey I'm in a hurry here. We ended up leaving cash on the register counter and walked out.
I've worked in the resturant industry for a long time. So when you have experiences like this it's very hard to bite your tongue and not say something. If this industry has jaded you over the years or servicing others isnt truly your thing, I believe a career change is in order. Maybe it was an off day for this individual but doesn't seem so based off now reading these 1 star reviews.
I unfortunately didn't get her name but can describe the women as blonde, hair pulled back into a ponytail, white, wearing a hot pink shirt on Monday, October 28th. We arrived around 945ish AM.
Employees truly make or break the business. We all know if you've worked in the resturant world the saying, " if you got time to lean you got time to clean." Or in this case check on your tables and provide the serve we are paying for.
We were so excited to try something new. (We usually go to Western Cafe.) Even though the food was great, I do not think I'll be back.
Praying yall can get some better staff because the concept is there. Loved the limited & healthy ingredients in the butter, syrups, hot sauces, farm fresh eggs, meats..etc.

Not only was the food tasty and the portions humongous, but our server, Shauna, was so friendly and outgoing that I'll gladly drive 20 miles out of my way again just to enjoy her company.
Vegetarian options: Dr. Praeger Veggie burger was yummy.
Parking: at least 50 spaces
Kid-friendliness: The decor alone gives the kids lots to look at, there were crayons to color with, and our server was super kid friendly.
Wheelchair accessibility: Aisles were wide and accessible.
