I grew up in St Louis where this was a very popular chain.Back in the day I worked there and hung trays on car windows.The quality of the food is still pretty good but not like it used to be.

No cashiers, hate that. Ordered special, did not add or subtract from the burgers. $7 for a basic shake. Clean. Very noisy. Thinnest burger I have ever seen.

I've never had a steak and shake hamburger. I should say steak burger before the shakes are great. The hamburgers are great and don't forget the onion rings

Nothing super special. Shake was good. Dairy Queen is still the best so far, for shakes. Apparently the burger was quite good, my hubby had one. Pricey for fast food though. But Rockin Horse deal tip (IG @rockin.horse) is to download the app! You get a free shake (can only be redeemed after 4pm)
My 1st visit to a steak & shake... And I was not impressed... For starters I was forced to use a kiosk to order my food... Meaning I could not custom order my burger they way I wanted, I was limited to what their kiosk would allow.... Yes there humans working there but they do not have a "cashier/order taker"... And theat is a disappointment... It should be my choice if I want to use the kisok for ordering... (the kiosks are to have the ability to not pay employees)The food while prepared well, didn't jump out as omg this is the best thing I have ever put in my mouth... Honestly for the price I paid I could have had two burgers, a shake, and fries at In-N-Out and their food has flavor...It was decorated and themed as a 50's style diner... Other than the giant digital kisoks...I mean to each their own, I can now say I have been, however I will likely not go back as they are pretty pricy for what you get... And since they don't want to pay employees they should be able to lower their prices...

I've had their burgers and fires, and while they are not the best, they are good. The shakes, on the other hand, I find those to be very good. Especially on weekdays from 2 to 5, you can get them at 50% off. Service is always fast and friendly.
