Good food and service. Don't love basement vibe but good ambient light and sound control. I have been there before and surprised at how high the prices are.
Ellina is one of my favorite restaurants. A new sound proofing ceiling and carpeting has made conversation much easier and pleasant. The service was perfect, attentive but now cloying. A new Brunello by the glass, Castelli Martinozzi was far better than almost any higher priced Brunello I have ever tasted. Our meal of onion soup, and lasagna was excellent. The only criticism I had was the chicken milanaise. The initial serving was burned on the edges. We sent it back and another serving was brougnt out within 5 minutes. It was not burned but tasted dried out. I love the restaurant. I will not order the chicken milanaise again.
We've lived in the valley for 5 and 1/2 years and this was our first time dining at Ellina. The atmosphere was dark and cozy, drinks were good and food was delicious! Also appreciated that the owner came over to help us find a wine that everyone really enjoyed that was reasonably priced -which is not always easy to find in Aspen. We will definitely be back !
Ellina delivers every time. Excellent meal and warm service. Always one of my favorite stops in Aspen.
In many years of being an Aspen regular Ellina was a wonderful find that we had never tried before. We tried a variety of dishes and all were very good. A great find.
NYE Specials were on point and always one of the best, if not the best, restaurants in Aspen.
You can cook the same pasta and fish at home if you are at least a mediocre cook. $40 per dish is a ridiculous price for this level of bland taste. Attaching a picture of how pasta was served: I also throw a grated cheese on a coarse grater like this at home when I am too tired to make it look pretty. Service: they would not grind pepper for you, they will just bring you a cheapest plastic pepper mill and put it on the table. Again, this is fine, but when dishes cost $40 each. On the pro side: ambiance is nice and the olive oil that came with the bread was good quality.
When posting the same review on OpenTable the answer from the restaurant was aggressive. I appreciate the hard work of the chef who works a lot as they mentioned in the answer, but the taste is just not there.

Unfortunately my experience was very mixed. On one hand, the food was good. No complaints. Had the Branzino and it was delicious. On the other hand, service can improved. The Open Table reservation was for an outside table. We were led to an indoor table and I had to ask for an outdoor table. We ordered potatoes as a side dish, and it was forgotten until we reminded them, and it didn't arrive until we were mostly done with our main dishes. At the end of the meal I ordered a decaf coffee. When it arrived I asked to confirm it was decaf and they had brought a regular. They brewed some decaf and finally brought that. When the bill came it showed 2 coffees, which was obviously not correct. Again, the food was good, but the service needs some improvement.
Perhaps the rudest treatment i have ever had from the Hostess, manager.
My 2 friends who were at table were shocked. The waiter who took my order was great

We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary here. We had a wonderful time. Chris, the sommelier, went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed our anniversary celebration. His colleagues were attentive and friendly. Food was great. Would love to return soon.
We absolutely love Ellina's! It has been our go to spot this summer. The house made pasta, fish entrees and the pistachio martini (thanks, Willie) are unbelievable. The staff is so friendly accommodating. We will be back a few more times before we leave for the season!
We love this restaurant don't leave without ordering the artichoke bruschetta... Everything is delicious lovely local ambience, and excellent wine list with warm friendly service
