The restaurant is pleasantly decorated, has a nice patio view, and at 1pm on a Wednesday had perhaps 10 different wait staff rushing to and fro -- for three tables in Prospect, can't say what might have been going on next door at the JBar. We chose Prospect because it seemed a little more upscale seating than the bar. There was also a pleasant, engaged maitre'd, in a wine-colored suit perfect for close decanting. On to the bizarre. With all those folks going by, we had to ask a liveried lady bussing the next table (a large one, for a good while, no one waiting of course) to bring us water -- after 10 minutes. Then the waiter arrived and overall he did fine -- I assume he had nothing to do with the food. Food was ordered and arrived about 25 minutes later. My wife was too hungry to refuse the house salad that came out, though she ordered the Caesar salad. I splurged on the Guinea Hen, my favorite fowl, why not. It was nicely cooked and came with some mini vegetables, and an inventive, deconstructed "stuffing" made of their foccaccio of prior days, cooked with what amounted to the most miniature of oysters I have ever seen, two of them -- perhaps an inch across, could have been earrings. Who knows what size they started out. The dish was thoroughly ruined by application of theraputic, if not toxic, dose of garlic presented in several offensive ways -- fairly raw, overcooked to a bitter char, and half-cooked, floating in a remarkably saline veal reduction sauce. The last was blessedly, in its own bateau, where 95% of it remained. The first two one could not escape from. Vampires avoided me for days. My wife did too for at least a day. I ate a chocolate to reorient my mouth with no luck. Peppermint toothpaste tasted like garlic. My mouth was ruined even for a cigar. Was this an act of sadism or neglect?
The photos posted on this TripAdvisor are not current…the restaurant has been updated in a very chic atmosphere with dark paneled walls and lovely light fixtures. The food is totally excellent as you might expect from The Jerome. While not inexpensive the joy of dining here is worthy of the expense.
Super Friendly. Excellent Service. Loved the historic but updated atmosphere. But the pre fixe menu was superb. Expensive but so what. You’re in Aspen.
The best things about this restaurant for me was the ambiance and service. The food was unremarkable and pricey. Pricey is okay for delicious not average. I wanted to start with dessert as this was my birthday celebration! It was a mini apple pie the size of a half dollar and a sliver of ice cream half that size. It's okay though. It was complimentary since it was my birthday. The apple pie did not taste like apple pie. *scratches head* I had a salad with salmon. The hubby had a tiny little leg quarter. This is all I can say. Would I return? No
The service was very good. Out servers were friendly, prompt and professional. We had the tuna tartare appetizer and we split the scallops for our main course. The food was very good and we would order again. The main course was 3 scallops, however they were not very big, so I would recommend not splitting this dish. But, it did leave room for dessert and coffee. The coffee was quite good, and the dessert, a chocolate hazelnut cake was absolutely delicious.
We had a lovely dinner at Prospect. Food was outstanding and service was friendly. The shrimp cocktail was fresh and the best we've eaten in a long time. The Lamb riblets were delicious. The clubby interior of the restaurant was fun.
We really enjoyed our evening with friends at The Jerome Hotel. Great drinks in a beautiful bar followed by a great dinner outside. Started with baked oysters for the table and I had the best trout I’ve ever had and my wife had a terrific chicken dish. Terrific zin accompanying our meal made for a perfect evening.
As longtime locals, we appreciate the service that Leslie provides. She is very welcoming and treats longtime clientele very nicely and is very accommodating. Angelica is a very attentive server and provides excellent service.
We had the best gluten -free blueberry pancakes ever here. They were absolutely delicious. We also had eggs benedict on GF bread which was also very good. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Despite being on Main Street, the outdoor tables feel more secluded. A diverse lunch menu includes a monster bowl of chicken noodle soup (which is a full meal). I had the Pork Belly Tacos - generous portion of meat and tasty accompaniments. Service was prompt.
