Stranahan's Aspen is simply one of the best new experiences in Aspen! My wife and I were there just last week as well as this past February, and part of a group that attended the soft open two ski seasons ago. My son is a whiskey aficionado and was so excited he dragged us non-whiskey drinkers over there; and are we glad he did! First, the atmosphere is truly old Aspen classy (I have been to Aspen every year since 1963). Second, every whiskey drink is unique and tasty! Third, the food is exceptional (the crispy fingerling potatoes, the pretzel hot pocket, the wagyu burger - all good). However, the person who makes this all work is the bartender, Curtis. His knowledge about and the preparation of all drinks is amazing. You sense that he is in total control of the experience minutes after you walk in the door and he is! Living in L.A., I know what makes restaurants succeed or fail; patrons may love the food and/or the atmosphere but if the person at the door or the waiter at the table or the manager of the operation is sour or snooty or disinterested or lazy, they won't come back; and they won't recommend it to their friends. Curtis is the real deal. We came for the drinks but we kept coming back because of him. He's a straight up guy that we thoroughly enjoy talking to and someone typical of who you would want to build a business around. Our only recommendation during summer is to put a real character/personality like his out front on the bricks/mall area to educate people who don't drink whiskey and coax them in!

My wife and I are long time locals and fans of the brand. It’s my go to whiskey at my house. We had an incredible experience the other night. Aspen exclusive whiskey and my wife had a whiskey margarita. I was unsure about the margarita but damn they nailed it. Zoe was our server, very knowledgeable about my dozen questions as I geeked out. Service and tentativeness was on point. She introduced me to Max and I continued to geek out even more. Overall, I am impressed with how well the brand and establishment was. Thank you for the local love and you will definitely see us again.

This place is awesome! Has a great atmosphere that makes you feel welcomed. Drinks and food are so good! I had the Wagyu pretzel hot pocket and potato fingerlings and it is my new favorite, paired nicely with the smoked old fashioned. Curtis was very knowledgeable and a great host! Definitely recommend coming to check this spot out.

Stranahan’s is a cozy, classy spot with a fantastic selection of Colorado-made whiskey. The vibe is warm and inviting, the staff knows their stuff, and the drinks are top-notch. Curtis the bartender is the best, always super attentive and great!!

The worst experience I’ve had in Aspen…ever. Drinks were fine but the service was downright hostile. We stopped in before dinner for a quick drink to check it out. The place was empty at 6pm and we sat at a table top for six. We had a non drinker and a special needs child with his caretaker so only a few of us were drinking. Waitress accosted us for taking a table for 6 and only ordering a few drinks even though the place was empty. Waitress was surly and argumentative and ruined the whole experience. We’ve heard from others this place is awful. Too bad. Would be nice to enjoy a pleasant whiskey drink but the hostile service and attitude isn’t worth it.

The Whiskey Bar in Aspen isn’t just a place—it’s where magic happens. From the second we walked in, Will, Ioana, Sophia, and Max made this night unforgettable. Their warmth, attention to detail, and genuine excitement for our special moment turned my proposal into something we’ll remember for the rest of our lives. If you want an experience that feels personal, meaningful, and downright incredible, this is the spot—you won’t find anything like it anywhere else.

Delicious drinks! Service could be better. Went twice and was ignored for a long time after getting our first round. Took ages to get the second round & the check both times.
