My husband and I are both gluten free, and this is by far the best bar food & gluten free food options in northern Colorado! We eat here about once a week and love it. They also have a gluten free beer option which most small dive bars don’t!

We were so excited to try the food because it looks amazing, but never got the opportunity! My family A GROUP OF FIVE TOTAL that included 2 little kids in tow waited an hour and 20 min and still no food!! Our order consisted of 5 entrees with sides and an order of plain tots. So, 6 items total. Also, upon sitting down we were never warned of a wait! I understand a wait, but the staff was HORRIBLE with zero customer service skills. I asked the waitress when our order would arrive and she said she would check, but never actually went back to check. When I asked a different waitress she said with some aggression “you know this is a dive bar you have to wait”. There was ZERO apology and we were even being made fun of by the waitresses friends. You can also see by the other negative reviews that the owner responds to those, blames it on the customer and takes zero accountability for their negative experience. I had a double while waiting, ordered a second and due to the attitude decided not to finish it or wait any longer. We asked for our drink bill and took off. I put a review on the Ault Community Facebook page and the employees berated my comments, told me it was my fault and took no accountability. This is disgusting! I’ve also been made aware of how unsafe this place is… guns being pulled, underage drinking, staff drinking/smoking pot on the job and an investigation in regards to the disappearance of a local female. I 100% do not recommend this place. I have included a response from my Facebook post just to show how far this situation was taken by the owner and employees.

This is the best experience we’ve had in so long. Monique is amazing. Simply amazing. Perfect service, best pineapple mule I’ve ever had (even better than what I’ve had in Hawaii, and I’m Hawaiian!!), and the Buffalo Hank with a side of fries is amazing. The crowd is such great company to have. Best place to visit once you get to Ault, CO.

We love this place. Everytime we are working in the hereford area we love to stop in. Drinks are always top notch and ice cold. There's nothing on the menu I dont like but the OG smashburger and all the chicken burgers are my fav! If your in the area this is a must stop for sure. They nail it every time

Overall pretty good EXCEPT they changed their burgers from smash burgers and I won’t be eating their burgers anymore.
Stopped in to try the new menu- it was amazing! The server walked us through the new additions from the Pony Melts & Salads to the new smashburgers & Fried Chicken Sandwiches. Settled on a Hombre burger (double cheeseburger smothered in green chile and bacon) and an Ugly Rooster Cheesy Melt with chicken and their honey mustard sauce. YUM!
Previous Review: Now that’s a Fish Fry! Last Friday we visited the Ugly Pony in Ault. It was only a 15min drive straight out Mulberry- takes longer to park in Old Town. We had two orders of the fish- it was thick and juicy, and the batter was crisp and flavorful. Loved the homemade creamy tartar sauce. Also we had a Chicken Dinner and a HUGE Philly Steak Sandwich. The Pony Fries were divine- crispy and seasoned perfectly (the server said it has black truffle on them!). Speaking of the servers, the place was full but they kept things humming. Our group of four had a drink off their Cocktail menu (prickly pear mules and a perfectly boozy Old Fashioned) and a table opened right up next to some cute cowboys. The servers had our order in and another round of drinks- and then our food was delivered. Quick for such a bustling place. We loved the vibe of a country bar with a lot of upscale booze and food choices. We will be back and can’t wait for warmer days to hang out.

We ordered food at 4:45 through their website. It said it would be ready at 5:15. My husband, baby, and I drove from FC to Ault to get our food. My husband went in around 5:15 to get our food and was told it wasn’t ready. The waitress then told him that their cook quit, they hired a new cook and he walked out on the his first day today, and the owner was cooking in the back. We then waited another 40 mins for our food. The owner was argumentative when he came out and never apologized once.
The food was not great and many items were wrong. My gluten free hamburger was in the same container as a burger with a normal bun. We have been here once before and the service wasn’t great then, but this was next level. We won’t be back.
