A few days ago, my friends and I stopped by before closing to place a to-go order. Even with the late hour, Keshaun welcomed us with a gracious manner. He made sure we felt accommodated for and went above & beyond to deliver outstanding service.
You can tell he has a natural gift for connecting with people.. he carries the kind of energy and professionalism you look for in a great manager. What could’ve been a quick, routine stop turned into something that showcased the kind of leadership and hospitality any establishment should be proud of. And of course, the food was spectacular- as always :) People like Keshaun truly make the difference in hospitality! His kindness was greatly appreciated!

Sebastian was a great server and was overly accommodating. The food was great and I loved the atmosphere. I would definitely recommend the Shrimp Vindaloo.

Sebastian was our server and he had a great attitude and kept a smile on his face. I got a chicken tikka masala and the food was amazing.

I’ve been here a few times and each time the whole service team is fantastic! This time our server Keshaun and he was wonderful! Super fun and friendly. I think even the manager was walking around and checked in on us a few times and we really felt cared for. We got a vegetable curry and chicken masala, large portion sizes so for 2 of us we both could take home some leftovers. Pictured here is the garlic naan which is my favorite, but they also have a kind of potato naan which is also really good. Highly recommend!

The food is OK, decent Indian food in the Southlands area. But it’s a little obnoxious hearing the owner talk to his employees like convicts, it makes me feel bad for them and not want to support the business, they are teenagers and they actually do a great job. The only reason why I’m giving the service three stars is because of the Owners disrespectful attitude to his employees, I hate hearing that.

Also, it’s a little annoying that they basically give you two grains of rice with a mountain of sauce and then charge you four dollars for a small little cup of extra rice.

Monsoon: Outstanding Cuisine, but Service Left Me Torn

I can’t recommend Monsoon enough when it comes to their food—it’s truly exceptional. From the moment you pull into the parking lot, you can often catch a whiff of their slow-churned curries and clay oven-baked meats. Step inside, and your senses are greeted by the intoxicating aroma of spices and freshly baked Naan that immediately set the stage for an incredible meal.

The first time I dined here, I ordered the traditional lamb curry, and let me just say—every bite was a revelation. The lamb was perfectly cooked, tender and flavorful, and the sauce had just the right blend of spice and depth. Even the rice, as simple as it seems, was perfectly prepared. And then there’s the Naan. I tried both the regular and garlic versions, and you could tell they were freshly made, warm, and impossibly good—the best Naan I’ve ever had, hands down.

Monsoon consistently delivers food that makes you want to come back again and again. Their menu showcases the love and care they put into each dish, and I’ve never been disappointed when it comes to the flavors or quality.

That said, I have to address one unfortunate experience that left me conflicted. On one visit, I called ahead to make a reservation, only to be told with a chuckle that it wasn’t necessary. When my family arrived, we had to wait 30 minutes for a table. The host asked if we had a reservation, and when I explained the situation, they apologized but didn’t go any further to make it right. There was no effort to acknowledge the inconvenience or offer anything to improve the experience.

This was a tough moment for me because the food at Monsoon is so outstanding that I want to give it a glowing five-star review without hesitation. But customer service matters, too, especially at a restaurant of this caliber. It’s painful to lower my rating even slightly because of how much I love their food, but I believe service should match the quality of the cuisine.

If Monsoon can elevate their customer service to the same impeccable standard as their food, it would be an unbeatable experience. For now, I’ll keep coming back for the phenomenal flavors, with the hope that future visits will reflect a more consistent commitment to hospitality.

The most amazing Indian cuisine I have had since I lived in Delhi. I have eaten Indian on 6 continents and this is by far the best and most authentic I have had outside of India. Sorry for no pictures but I did not have that much self control when the food arrived!

Our order was fairly large for takeout. The food was finished and packaged by the time we arrived to the restaurant. The gentleman that brought us our order went through the bags and identified each piece of our order to ensure it was all present and wished us well on our exit.

A great place with great employees and great Indian food. I couldn't recommend it enough.
