New Beginning

Over priced. Bad food.

Wonderful food. If you are an existing fan of Ethiopian food you will be amazed, as all the dishes you know and love come alive here in new ways. For us, it was as if all the Ethiopian food we had eaten up to now was flavored in black and white and Selam finally gave us the food as it should be in full saturated color! We just wish that they ethically sourced their meats, but other than that we have zero complaints and really loved this place.

This place was simply amazing. The service was incredible, and the food was unbelievable. We started with the lentil samosa. The sauce that came with it was almost as good as the samosa. My wife had yemisir wot, and I had doro wot. We also shared a side of gomen (collard greens). Again, unbelievable. We also ordered tea, which was made from cardamom and cloves. It might have been the best tea we've ever had. If all of that wasn't enough, we had baklava for dessert. We both thought it was the best baklava we'd ever had. We cannot wait to return Selam!

I love Ethiopian food with all the spices, veggies, lentils, etc. Our meal was delicious. We ordered a Veggie platter and another with veggies and meat. It was good, but there were several with dishes some slightly odd tastes, maybe too many cloves. Service was adequate, but it was hard to get anyone's attention when it was needed.

We had an amazing dinner with our family of 5. The servers were wonderful and provided us with great recommendations. We are looking forward to going back.

Absolutely great food. Great service. Great everything. Tried their lentils samosas and sampler platter. The Tej was nice and their St. George beer was refreshing and cold.

If you are a gluten free vegan, you will love this place. We shared a veggie platter and it was the best Ethiopian food we have ever eaten. The service was so warm and friendly. It was a great dining experience.

Selam offers a welcome respite in an area where most options are American or Italian food. The meal was outstanding and the service excellent. Highly recommended.

My wife and I ate lunch here. We had the Selam Veggie Special (for two). Food was spectacular and plentiful. Best injera I have ever had. Service was great. We will return…

Sometimes it’s tough to find an authentic restaurant in Orlando but Salem fits the bill since the moment you enter the restaurant. The incense, music and food spice smell all add to the ambiance. The service is very cordial. Ethiopian food is pretty mysterious for Americans because we are not accustomed to the dishes nor the ingredients (or eating with your hands!). However the waiter was willing to explain everything on the menu. I ordered the Gored Gored since I love meat and spice and am not squeamish about rare meat. It was delicious. The only slight negative is the price but I think it’s worth it due to the restaurants authenticity.

Visited with a friend who had been there many times before. Good choice and selection of Ethiopian and Eritrean Food, vegetarian and vegan options available. Good sized portions

When I complained that my water had a huge insect in it, they could hardly care. When I spoke to the manager, he only said "It's because our door was open." I don't want an excuse - there is NO EXCUSE for insect-laden food.

This is some of the best food I’ve ever had. Great staff and service. The food is out of this world.

We split a vegetarian platter which did not disappoint us. The greens, mushrooms, lentils, cabbage, salad etc. were a delicious lunch selection. Healthy and fresh tasting. Plus, we even had some to take home with us. The staff was very pleasant. This platter cost $29.99 which seemed reasonable since two adults ate their fill and had a doggie bag, too. Free parking.
