This library must do better for children with special needs that are learning to be in groups with their peers. Today, I took a family to Smoky Hill for the first time to teach a mom that libraries are safe, welcoming place for all children and that this would be a great place to bring him to learn how engage with his peers with my support. She was so nervous to come because he will often scream in new places and it can be difficult to predict his behavior. I convinced this mom that the library would be understanding and welcoming. We were ready to expose him to story time and I had three adults to support him. We went into the story time with a 3 to 1 ratio of support. When he got upset because I was trying to redirect him (away from the hundreds of sensory toys that were not available yet) to another area, he started to cry. I was working on helping him calm and the librarian stopped her story and asked us to leave. As we were actively trying to calm and get him redirected. She did not even give him a chance to learn. LIBRARIES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE SAFE PLACES FOR ALL KIDS. How he is supposed to learn this skill if not in free, public places for kids? You need to do better. There were so many other things this librarian could have done to be inclusive. She could have allowed him to hold some of many sensory toys she was not giving out yet. She could have changed it up and did an active song in the beginning. This was shocking and not inclusive to a child that was trying and wanted to be there. I have never been so disappointed in a library staff and will never suggest this branch again. You may have a cafe but lack common kindness.

I like the cafe and the large area for the children reading. They have puzzles, a building little train set and a puppet show area.

This is by far the best library I've ever been to. This is what people told me college was supposed to be like. Super friendly, lots of resources. I'm actually from out of town and I have 9 hours to kill and wanted to get some work done and they still let me rent an office space for a bit to make some phone calls.

This is probably one of the best places to study of all the libraries I have seen. It’s so quiet and so clean and it even has a cafeteria in case you got hungry or need some caffeine. The staff is so helpful and friendly. The kids section on ground floor is huge and must visit for parents. I loved the banned books displayed few days ago, I thought it was very creative.

One of my absolute favorite library locations! ( I literally have 4 library cards for the area) Very bright, clean and inviting. The staff is always so helpful and friendly. This location also has a beautiful cafe with lots of options. They also have an awesome 3D printing station that had me mesmerized for way too long watching a project being built. Makes me almost want to go more often instead of e-reading ?

Staff here isn’t really nice. I typically do all my printing and anything I need at home, unfortunately for me, my printer broke. So I came to the library, walking in was great, walking up the stairs to the computers easy and beautiful stairwells. But I continued about my visit, walked over to the computers and noticed I need a library card, I don’t have one. So I walked up to a gal, Heather. I asked her, how do I log on to the computer? To which she responded, “Do you need a guest pass?” Sheesh, I don’t know Heather..do I? She then just proceeded to point to a stack of ticket papers on her desk. In short if you don’t have a library card you need a guest pass to use the computer. Don’t ask Heather for help, she was literally no help. Besides providing smart alec responses

Great library, and a great community resource. The children's section is a fantastic place to take the kids, and my kids actually love going there.

Only leaving one because it is a good library at the end of the day. However these two older ladies were very rude. It came down to closing and as we were exiting I realized I did not have my phone on me. I looked and , I could not locate it. Obvious thing to do next is to look in the library. Granted it was about 2-3 minutes from closing. I completely understand the frustration of having to let me in when they should be closing. I work in healthcare two jobs might I add so my phone is not just something I can grab early in the morning. It is urgent. Those two older ladies completely ignored me and did not dare to look me in my face as I stood there knocking. God forbid anything awful would have happened that night those ladies would have been at fault. Don’t get me wrong that is the only altercation I have had. I will always support libraries just not those two workers.
