Grouse Mountain Grill turned a potential disappointment into an unforgettable experience that has earned them a lifelong customer.
In August, I made a reservation for a special occasion in late November. Less than 24 hours before our scheduled dining time—and after I had already confirmed the reservation—the restaurant reached out via OpenTable to let me know they couldn’t serve us that evening. However, they immediately offered to move our reservation to the next day and covered the entire meal, including cocktails and desserts, as an apology. This gesture alone speaks volumes about their commitment to exceptional service.
When we finally dined there, everything was outstanding. The service was top-notch—attentive, friendly, and seamless—and the food was a delight.
We started with their famous hand-rolled tater tots, which were out of this world. I’m still dreaming about them and wish I could recreate them for Thanksgiving. Next, we split a Caesar salad, which was well-prepared with fresh cracked pepper. While the grated Parmesan was good, I personally prefer flaked Parmesan for a more upscale feel.
For entrees, I had the off-menu filet. It was cooked closer to medium-rare than the medium I ordered—not a big deal, so I didn’t mention it to the server. While it was a flavorful cut, it had more fat than I like for a boneless filet. I expect a filet to be lean, so the excess fat was a minor letdown. On the other hand, my spouse’s salmon was perfect. This dish seemed to be the standout of the evening, as many tables ordered it. Everyone, including my spouse, raved about the flawless preparation and seasoning.
For dessert, we enjoyed the chocolate cake and carrot cake. Both were delicious, but be aware that the portions are on the smaller side and not shareable, which is a bit unusual for upscale restaurants.
Full transparency: our meal was on the house due to the reservation mix-up, but this did not affect my review. Grouse Mountain Grill is an excellent choice in the area, and I highly recommend taking the Village Connect to visit. You’ll enjoy great food, attentive service, and an experience truly worth the cost.

Favorite restaurant in Vail Beaver Creek area. Walleye is a staple but everything is good. Great drinks and service is top notch.

Absolutley outstanding, service was excellent , friendly great recommendations. Food was exquisite and creative. Highly recommend, never disappoints. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Very good experience in every aspect. Atmosphere is subtle luxury, this particular evening it was quiet due to a relatively low volume of guests. Service friendly and professional. Food was the best, creative and very tasty. For us a perfect anniversary dinner.
Each and every year when we are in Beaver Creek we eat here. It never disappoints but this meal was the best ever. My wife started with corn soup and then scallops. I had the beet salad and the strip steak. Both meals were excellent. If possible even better than that. Service was excellent also. Ask for Scott. He will take great care of you but I have to say all the servers do a great job. If you can't tell we love this restaurant.
Wonderful experience with excellent view of the valley. Watermelon/cucumber salad was a unique flavor combination. Scallops were tender and sweet. Lamb shank was huge and tasty but, perhaps, a little salty. Our waiter, Scott, was amazing.
We have been dining at Grouse Mountain Grill since it opened. Tonight our waiter was chatty Cathy and the red dear wasn't very good. No seasoning on the tater tots. Very disappointing and to make matters worse we were entertaining friends.
We absolutely love dining here. Food is always phenomenal. The bolognese was so flavorful and the handmade pasta perfectly cooked. The Ritz crusted walleye was so flavorful and delicate. Melted in your mouth. Drinks were amazing as well. The Old Fashioned is balanced to perfection.
This has been my go-to 5 Star restaurant at Beaver Creek. While the service and ambiance remain great, the food on this visit was surprisingly uninspiring. Corn Soup as a starter was delicious. For entrees, my wife had the lamb (liked it but didn't love it) and I had the beef (chewy rather than tender). Maybe just an off night in the kitchen? We'll give it another try in the future, but it would be a shame if the Grouse Mountain Grill becomes just another over-priced ordinary Beaver Creek restaurant.
We were celebrating our anniversary and they made it extra special. Beautiful table and excellent service, not to mention the food that was outstanding. This was the third time in 12 years that we had celebrated there. It won't be our last.

Grouse Mountain is a very special dining experience. We were seated at a lovely table. Our server Scott was very professional and knowledgeable, but “fun” at the same time. The food was incredible, as always. And our hats off to the pastry chef. We've been going to Grouse Mountain for years and can always count on great ambiance, excellent service and the most delicious food. Tonight was no exception.
Two years ago when we went to Grouse Mtn Grill it was far better than this time. 3 of us had the Waleye fish and it was just ok... The other had Lamb Shank and it was very good. We will try another restaurant!
The restaurant is lovely. The service was phenomenal, from the host who helped with the wine selection and was very knowledgeable regarding their wine list. Our waitress was also lovely and made a pleasant dining experience. The food however was mediocre and extremely overpriced for what we received. My lamb chop was extremely over salted. My husband's scallops were very small in portion size.
We come once a year to Vail/Beaver Creek and this restaurant reservation is always our first one made. With Duffy as our waiter we were not disappointed Great food Great drink and Great time
Way too noisy. Food was just fair. We had Mushroom Bolognese and Pork chop Pasta was not cooked well. Sauce was a bit too rich. Polenta with Pork Chop was cold and too much coating on the thin pork chop. Very disappointing. Its usually one of our "go to " restaurants. But we left very disappointed.
