We saw this place on tik tok and were really looking forward to delicious food. Unfortunately my pulled pork sandwich came out and the meat seemed like they served me something that had been sitting out all day with zero moisture. My husband’s cheesesteak was just as dry and missing cheese. The waitress was very involved in what seemed to be her friend that came to visit and was irritated when asked for anything. She also seemed to be closing up early as the iced tea was dumped at 6pm but they don’t close until 830pm. Thankfully the hostess was kind and attentive. All in all I felt like I gambled and lost $50.
Beyond disgusting.
Loved our food and friendly staff! It was really dead when we went but enjoyed it.
Now I'm from Mississippi and I only visited this place once, but the staff I met was friendly and the bbq sauce on offer was different from what I'm used to but it was delicious. Their cole slaw was definitely different from what I'm used to in the south but my fiance and I loved how different and light tasting it was. I'd definitely come here again when we vacation in the area again. Their pork belly burnt ends nachos are amazing as well!
If you're into true barbeque this establishment is for you. It is now called JKQ -BBQ. I enjoyed a very healthy serving of 1/2 rack st lewis style ribs with a side of JKQ beans and potatoes salad. This was definitely a meal for two. I was hungry so I indulged. The atmosphere was definitely historic. The bar still looked the same from 25 years ago. This is a family owned venue. If you want to take time away from the black hawk casinos and settle down for great food. This place is for you!
Great BBQ and desserts, live music
Great place to get a drink and bbq. Service was excellent!
We had been across the street at Hearts and Legends and saw two different couples walk out of the patio area with dogs. We had a dog with us. We stopped by to double check and ask if dogs were allowed on the patio. We had a large party of 8. There was a waitress smoking outside. She didn’t answer our question and rather looked us up and down before asking how many we had. She said “we don’t have a table large enough for your party.” (They did.) She then went inside and this older woman came out and told us “As you can clearly see, we don’t have room for YOU PEOPLE. Try again in an hour.” This was said in front of my kids. No one answered the question about dogs. It’s 2024 and it’s crazy that people are still like this.
Gotta get the pitmaster.. one of the best drinks you'll ever have!!!
Tourist Hotspot. Bbq is terrible. Service is slow. Ive tried 3 different times and was worse everytime. Dry hard jerky like pulled pork and ribs were hard and jerky like as well. There so called homemade desserts are made days in advance and sit out in plastic wrap for days. Im not sure what keeps this place in business.
Restaurantji Recommends
Pretty area, bartender was too busy for lil ol' me ;)
Fun place. Food was good. Place felt a little understaffed. Two bars with two bar tenders. One bar was totally full and the other empty.
I recently went to this restaurant with my partner while we were up there and I have to say, this is the first time I ever have been served with almost an hour wait just to be told the “Cook” lost our ticket. Everyone was being served around us and I had finished 2 drinks within that time. Maybe it was because we were minority or maybe because I had my makeup up done OR maybe it’s just because of flat out discrimination who knows. We even left a decent tip for the waiter( who was the only nice one) even though we were treated so disrespectfully. It’s unfortunate, their Brisket was delicious too. ☹️?
One morning i came to eat, stopped by the green solutions first before going to the restaurant, and by the time i got back out to the car there was some grumpy old lady looked like she hadn’t gotten any sleep the night before slapping a tow paper on my windshield and yelling at me for parking in their lot so i left and decided never to return to the restaurant again. Definitely don’t recommend this restaurant either.
Had a good experience the first time so we came back and weren't even asked for drinks after 20 min of sitting with hungry kids. I know covid is hard to hire HOWEVER there were 2 table maybe and I think the service industry has gotten very lazy with expectations of getting 20%no matter what. Won't ever be back.
