Now I'm from Mississippi and I only visited this place once, but the staff I met was friendly and the bbq sauce on offer was different from what I'm used to but it was delicious. Their cole slaw was definitely different from what I'm used to in the south but my fiance and I loved how different and light tasting it was. I'd definitely come here again when we vacation in the area again. Their pork belly burnt ends nachos are amazing as well!
If you're into true barbeque this establishment is for you. It is now called JKQ -BBQ. I enjoyed a very healthy serving of 1/2 rack st lewis style ribs with a side of JKQ beans and potatoes salad. This was definitely a meal for two. I was hungry so I indulged. The atmosphere was definitely historic. The bar still looked the same from 25 years ago. This is a family owned venue. This place is an absolute pleasure to visit! First I noticed the smoker smelling damn good! Then once we entered, I was greeted by the owner himself and we instantly had laughs! The waitress at the bar area was fantastic! We all clicked like we were family instantly! I got the bbq sample platter with extra meats included because why not? It’s damn good bbq you’ll definitely enjoy and talk about in the future.
