Very unfriendly staff overall. When we approach the counter. No, hello. What can I get you just a blank stare . After placing our order no direction of where to pick up if they were gonna call my name or anything. After picking up our order I was accused of taking someone else's coffee with no apology. And the food and the coffee all look great here. But what a rude staff won't last for long .

I have been going to both Boxcar locations for years and have always received quality service. However recently their new hires are extremely unprofessional. I asked for an iced latte and when my name was called it was in a hot to-go cup. When I mentioned that I asked for my drink iced the red haired barista replied with "well that's not what it says on the ticket". It was extremely awkward and uncomfortable for me and my friend we didn't know what else to say. She handed me the newly made iced drink and didn't look at us or say anything else. She seemed extremely annoyed. This is not the service Boxcar is used to giving and they should honesty do better customer service trainings.

One of my favorite coffee shops in town! Kind baristas, a wide selection of freshly made pastries, drinkable espresso, interesting seasonal drinks. My favorites are the ham and cheese croissant and the refillable drip coffee. I hop around the menu quite a bit too, and I’ve always enjoyed what I’ve ordered.

(The only downside is the lack of places to charge electronics)

I really don't like when you have to ask for and can't add your own honey or alternative milk. They keep it behind the counter and won't let you add it yourself. I don't like it because they can't get the amount just as I like it. And when I'm paying this much for coffee I want it just right. Additionally, this "extra service" came with a bit of attitude. Not like "sure, I'd be happy to help you" but more of a feel of "really?". What's with the attitude? Not welcoming and I won't be back. It's coffee. It should be enjoyable and really frickin' good!

I had the worst service this morning at Boxcar. I asked for an extra hot cappuccino and received a less than tepid cup. The female Barista told me there was nothing she could do as the coffee was made. I was sent away less than satisfied . Will never go the Boxcar again.

Their coffee is delicious, beautiful cafe, but the staff is not very friendly, especially in the morning when they are not at all busy. They act tired and irritated. I understand being tired in the morning, but this has been my experience every single morning I have come in. The layout makes them very visible and everyone can hear when they express annoyance. They also seem to pick and choose whose name they want to say out loud clearly and who they want to ignore when coffee is ready. Also, the WiFi is inconsistent. Laptop users should not have struggle in a coffee shop.

Top quality coffee, including cold brew. Great pastries, including butter croissant. Great atmosphere/classic Italian shop feel.

So sad this coffee shop isn’t better. I came again today on a Sunday against my better judgment and was disappointed again. Coffee was fair but SLOW. No food except pastries, which were almost 100% sold out by 11 a.m. Watched groups of people come in and leave when they realized they basically don’t serve food once the pastries run out. No options for dietary restrictions. A few people wandered in with kids and were disappointed this place is decidedly not kid-friendly. Minimal outlets for the laptop crowd. Service was mediocre, slightly better than the overtly condescending person who I ordered from last time who berated me for trying to order a 16 oz coffee - the max size is 12 oz. I feel I am not alone in wishing we had a great neighborhood coffee shop where the staff is friendly and I could take my family and grab a good coffee and chat and everyone would be able to find a snack to eat. This is not it. There is a take it or leave it approach to everything and I’d rather leave it.

Dietary restrictions: Nothing for dietary restrictions.

Kid-friendliness: Not kid-friendly.

Good coffee, and a much better atmosphere than Caffe Sole ever had. They just don't seem capable of getting wifi that reliably works. I thought this was an issue most coffee shops solved in the early 2000s, but apparently not. Boxcar management - you would probably have a lot more midday and afternoon business if you had reliable wifi.

Not friendly to coders. I had a great pistachio croissant, but their internet seems to specifically block Github, AWS, and other URLs (blocked the company I work for as well for no reason), so you can't depend on it working as a coder. Not to mention I only saw 1 outlet in the whole place.

A great addition to the neighborhood with good drinks and lovely baked goods. (I only wish that they would carry the excellent canelés that they have at the Pearl Street location here too!) Nice and bright inside and a decent amount of seating both inside and outside.
