Best Mexican food in Boulder, hands down. this is authentic stuff, and it's all fresh and homemade. Their nachos, enchiladas, creamy habanero sauce, and sweet pork are things that I long for every time I eat at a Mexican restaurant away from Colorado. I moved away from Boulder for a bit and Cafe Mex was legitimately a significant factor motivating me to come back. If you EVER go to Chipotle in Boulder when the authentic Cafe Mex with their lovely people are right down the road, I shame you.

what sucks is that the food is really good but both times i have eaten here i have found a hair in my food. one time in a breakfast burrito and one time in the guacamole. and this was several months apart so it seems to not just be an isolated incident.

This food was just about the worst Mexican food I have ever had.
Ordered enchiladas and they layered three corn tortillas in a foil pan and slopped layers of food and liquid cheese and then heated up. Didn't get sick but it was awful. I almost never leave a negative review. This is bad!

Originally ate at their location in Fort Collins. Moved to Lakewood a few years back, but every time I visit Boulder I have to stop by, especially for breakfast. Not many restaurants have maintained their quality of food, but there guys sure have! Absolutely love their smothered burritos!
