I went here with my family to celebrate Christmas. The food and service was amazing. Worth every penny and we'll be going back. Had an opportunity to chat with a chef, Ben, and got a little history on the restaurant. Thank you so much!!!

Do not come here this was by far the worst meal I’ve ever eaten in my entire life.
The view was beautiful everything after that was extremely disappointing.
Everything that we ate, tasted like it was rubbery fat with no seasoning everything that was fried the oil must’ve been bad and needed to be replaced from last year.
Unspeakable horrors.

By the far the most overrated and overpriced dining experience I've ever had. After the free, mandatory valet, and the nice touch of a free coat check, everything went downhill. It took almost 10 minutes for our server to greet us and roughly 30 minutes to simply sit down, order one drink, and get the drink. Then we were given menus but barely anything was explained to us about how it worked. Ignored is the most descriptive word that comes to mind. We had to ask questions and flag down our server or any help -- even though there was more than enough staff. In essence, the entire service was purely reactive, there was no proactive actions taken in terms of anticipating guests needs or considering what we might want at any given juncture of the meal, aside from the staff who filled our waters and cleared our plates (though at times they were a bit too eager on that front). Having many years of service experience myself, it was inexcusably bad — with plenty of staff on a relatively calm evening.
The meal itself was paced OK, but we had another 20-30 minute wait for dessert and, again, at no time did our server or anyone on staff explain the wait or structure of the meal where guests routinely spend $200/person. Somehow it seemed the incredibly slow pace was a feature of the restaurant's service. Just ridiculous.
The food was aggressively mediocre. The foie gras and filet and lamb were cooked pretty well, but the rest of the food had the veneer of being a fancy meal and yet tasted like it should've cost $40/person, not $200/person.
A wildly disappointing evening and if we didn't have a gift card, we would have walked out because of the abhorrent service and low-quality food. A complete waste of money and, more importantly, time. I have no idea why this place has received such glowing reviews, but I imagine for most diners it could be the first meal they’ve had outside their own home? Hard to think of another reason.

Incredible service from the attentive staff, interesting and delicious entrees, unique and exquisite appetizers and desserts (like the burgundy black truffle and chocolate mille feuille), a memorable experience! We go to the Flagstaff House every year with our community hospital's medical executive committee.

My wife and I celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary at the Flagstaff House. The entire experience from the time you arrive is on another level. This even included specially printed menus congratulating us on our anniversary. We chose the signature 4 course experience and were blown away by each dish. We were even sent home with little cranberry bread for breakfast the next morning. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Everyone was knowledgeable about the dishes and drinks. If you're considering visiting for the first time like we were, It is well worth it! You won't have this experience anywhere else!

Do not come here. The service was subpar. The food was covered in a thick layer of a BBQ like sauce. The steak and fish was very dry. When we flagged all of this to the manager she made us feel very uncomfortable. The view was beautiful but honestly for the prices - the quality of food and service was lacking. It’s very clear why this restaurant has these reviews.

I was served my food sensitivity they knew about!
My husband and I dined at The Flagstaff House last night, eager to experience its renowned fine dining. While the setting and initial welcome were promising, the rest of the evening was filled with disappointments that overshadowed what should have been a memorable experience.
Welcome and 1st Impressions:
We were warmly greeted at the host stand and promptly seated upon arrival, which started the evening on a positive note. During the confirmation call earlier in the day, the staff asked about allergens and sensitivities, which I appreciated. We informed them of my sensitivity to mushrooms, and Aubrey ensured nothing I ordered contained them. However, there was a glaring oversight: the first palate cleanser, an artichoke mousse, was served with pickled mushrooms on top, and I was still served it. This mistake was both surprising and disappointing, given the prior diligence regarding my sensitivity.
Our evening began with the steak tartar appetizer, which was well-prepared and a promising start, but things quickly took a turn for the worse.
One of the biggest issues throughout the meal was the lack of attention and communication. Aubrey, while kind, appeared overwhelmed at times, resulting in service missteps that disrupted the flow of the evening. For instance, during the second and third courses, we received no explanation of the dishes. This was especially frustrating given their complexity. My husband’s second course, the scallop dish, included a bone marrow foam that he only discovered at the end of eating. The foam was intolerably salty.
My first course, the Hawaiian ono with soba noodles, was a mixed experience. While the fish itself was cooked well, the soba noodles were completely stuck together. This gummy texture made the dish unpleasant and difficult to enjoy.
During the third course, I ordered the octopus, which was tough and overcooked. I mentioned this to Aubrey when she finally checked in, but by that time, I was nearly done eating. She offered to have the chef prepare a replacement, but by then, we had been at the restaurant for almost two hours, and I declined, wanting to move on. The manager later approached us with the same offer, which I again declined. Knowing that the dish was likely overcooked because it had been held while waiting for silverware only added to the frustration.
Timing and coordination issues were a recurring theme. At least three times, we saw our food brought out, only for it to be turned back because Aubrey hadn’t yet brought the necessary silverware. This not only delayed our courses but disrupted the pacing of the entire meal.
Adding to the disappointment, other tables in Aubrey’s section seemed to receive much more attention. While I can’t speculate on why, it was disheartening to feel neglected, especially at a restaurant of this caliber.
Before dessert, we were moved to a table by the window. While the view was lovely, it was clear this was done so Aubrey could close her section, which felt more like an inconvenience for us than a thoughtful gesture.
For dessert, I chose the Baked Bayley Hazen Blue, and my husband had the Milk Chocolate Mille Feuille. Aubrey forewarned me that the Hazen Blue required a love for blue cheese—a flavor I typically really enjoy—but the dessert was overwhelmingly strong and inedible. I managed only a couple of bites before giving up. My husband’s chocolate dessert was more enjoyable.
Having dined at several diamond-rated restaurants, we arrived at The Flagstaff House with high expectations. But from service missteps to poorly executed dishes and an unacceptable oversight of my food sensitivity, the evening fell significantly short of what we expected for the price and reputation.
We don’t live in Boulder and won’t have the chance to revisit, which makes thi

We recently visited Flagstaff House to celebrate a special birthday, and while most aspects of the experience were excellent, one key element fell short. The ambiance was stunning, the service attentive, and the majority of the dishes were prepared to perfection. However, the filet mignon we ordered was overcooked and disappointingly dry, which detracted from an otherwise memorable evening. Given the reputation and price point, we expected this dish to be a highlight, but unfortunately, it missed the mark. Still, the overall experience was enjoyable, and we hope for better consistency next time.

Conner our main server and the rest of the team were amazing. Everyone else has already touched on how fun the experience is, but the takeaway is that you owe it to yourself to have a special dinner there. Just make sure to arrive hungry, because between all the yummy courses there are many other surprises that show up in between so you will want definitely leave full and with a smile on your face. Awesome food and experience at Flagstaff House!

We’ve visited Flagstaff House four times, drawn by the stunning views and the promise of a fine dining experience but unfortunately, this visit fell short of expectations.
The service was unusually slow, and one of my dishes arrived without its sauce, which was brought out later. My son’s drink was served in an extremely thin glass that broke in his hand, and we noticed crackers on the carpet when we were seated.
At this price point, attention to detail and exceptional service are expected, but sadly, Flagstaff House didn’t deliver this time.

Amazing wedding venue! The place is beautiful and it was just the wedding my husband and I wanted. Annie, the event coordinator at the Flagstaff House was amazing! She made the planning super easy and helped make sure everything was how we wanted it on our special day. Everyone who attended the wedding has said how much they loved the wedding. They said the view from the flagstaff house was awesome, the food was DELICIOUS and they loved that the wedding was during the day. Most of my guests had never been to a daytime wedding and everyone said they maybe actually prefer it from the evening ones. I couldn't have asked for a better day, it was perfect.

NOT FRIENDLY TO PEOPLE OF COLOR. We were sat in the back corner with a space heater and no view. The dining room remained 50% empty all evening. Watch out for blatant discrimination and racism.
