My experience in Gold Hill was unforgettable. The town has a quiet charm and historic character that makes you feel like you have stepped into another time in the best possible way. The mountain views and peaceful atmosphere make it easy to slow down and appreciate the surroundings.
The community was warm and welcoming, and everything from the local food to the historic buildings felt authentic and meaningful. It is not commercial or flashy, just a place with real character. I would highly recommend visiting Gold Hill to anyone looking for a memorable and restorative mountain getaway.
I tried to pay with Apple Pay and they didn’t accept it, no problem so I said I would go get my card and come back in line. The server was so rude and whispered “Jesus Christ” under his breath as I walked away. What a rude thing to say.
My wife and I enjoyed a delightful dinner here for her birthday there was bluegrass band playing for like 2 hours (Front Porch). The food, the music, the environment were all spectacular. Food is a little bit on the pricey end, but the environment made it worth it.
Go for the experience (really special) not the food.
Lovely intimate setting. Great food, made with love. I had the lamb with potatoes and homemade ginger beer. Everything was delicious.
God bless the Finn family for preserving this gem of history and tradition of fine dining. This is literally a MUST visit. I wish we could commission a shuttle up there every day of the week during season to ensure they have every seat full.
The music venue is not just charming, it attracts excellent songwriters and musicians who feel honored to perform. 10/10+++++
Lovely
Great place but beware it is now infiltrated with 20 year olds on the weekends for the live music
I can't get over this place. I've ridden my dirtbike past here dozens of times. My son, my friend Michael and I had a unique experience tonight. Greeted and seated by Brian who turned out to be one of the owners. Down to earth and friendly and just likeable. Then we had Rachel go over the menu and get us drinks. They should clone Rachel. The world needs more Rachels. Then during our 6 course meal we pretty much met the rest of the staff and Greta. Kind, sharp and funny. Yeah, we'll clone her too.
Food was just no nonsense, honest and clean. Rich flourless chocolate torte and fruit and cheese plate to finish. Perfect.
I can't wait to go back.
Thank you all 🙏
Came to celebrate our 1 year anniversary a month ago. We visited Gold Hill the town a earlier in the year and couldn't wait to try out the Gold Hill Inn so we made reservations as soon as we were able to. The staff and owner were nice and they even gave us each a complimentary glass of champagne. After that was, no joke, the worst meal I was ever served. The homemade bread was so dry and crumbly. The tomatillo soup tasted like watered down tomatillo salsa, and the apple cider brisket with a single fingerling potato was the driest, toughest, worst tasting entree I ever had. I did not send it back because at this point, my wife and I knew if they could not execute even simple bread and butter, no way could they with brisket. (I saw other sorry souls get the same looking meal). The way they serve the sweet potatoes is just bizarre as well. We actually were laughing about how bad everything was. The rum cake for dessert was okay. We really wanted to stay for the string band playing in the front of the inn but were literally left with a bad taste in our mouths and just left. Really a shame. Such good potential for this place and we really wanted to like it, but it was terrible. Two stars because staff was nice, and the band sounded pretty good while we were eating dessert.

I somehow found this listing a few years ago when I was searching for something unique to do with our son who moved to Boulder.
After finding this charm of a town perched on the top of Gold Hill 20 minutes outside of Boulder, we had an amazing dinner.
Since then, I have told as many people as I can about this charming, realistic gold mining era place with fabulous food, good servers, and if you’re lucky a great band !
We recently had a lovely family dinner with new friends, and everybody came away amazed that they had never been there before.
It is now a biannual event for us to go and experience all the delicious meals they have to offer.
Dress casual, allow some time before your dinner, to walk the town and read the historical information plaques on the front of most of the houses.
And then enjoy yourself at the Gold Hill Inn!
Gold Hill Inn (been many times) Is absolutely wonderful! The food is prepared so well and so fresh. I judge restaurants according to how my belly feels afterwards, and every time we’ve been here, my stomach feels so good plus the food is absolutely delicious!
Not to mention the experience and the history behind it, because my husband and I love history, it’s a perfect place!
Gold Hill Inn has been a very special place for me and my brother and his family. He took me there when I was 16 years old and it left a lasting impression on me for many years. So, when I took my own family there on Mother’s Day night while vacationing near Boulder, I expected utter perfection. Unfortunately, we were disappointed a bit. I found the service and food to be mediocre at best. My husband’s filet was requested to be cooked medium well and it came out extremely tough. They explained that it was tough because he ordered it medium well and not rare. I felt that was a ridiculous explanation as most restaurants, as well as my home kitchen, can serve up a tender, medium well filet. He then ordered the brisket which was also a bit tough and the portion much smaller than the servings the rest of our family were given. No adjustments to our bill were offered, which I found quite unusual too. I had a medium rare filet, which was mostly tender, but lacking flavor. The rest of my family were not impressed with the food at all either, but found the restaurant itself to be quite charming. I will add that the appetizers and salads were somewhat mundane and the wrong dressing was brought for my salad 2 times. The drive up there, however, was beautiful and the restaurant had a nice rustic ambience to it. There were a couple of singers/ guitarists there that night piping out some folk tunes that I found harmonious and pleasing. At $49/plate, I feel that the food should be much more tasty and cooked to perfection. Extremely disappointed overall.
Jake at the bar is the best bartender!
The place is utterly unique. The town is just like they left it in 1900. We had dinner and the food was super good quality and at least somewhat healthy. We are 60 year olds and had fun hanging out for a while with the 20 year olds. Kinda planned on dancing but it’s a bit tight.
