While the food was amazing… the service we received really took away from it! We made a reservation and were very excited to have a nice night out. We were sat in the far back corner at a very small table. We put in drink orders and waited quite some time for them to come with one of the drinks not even coming. When our waitress came back we put in our order for 2 appetizers and 2 entrees. We waited a very long time for the food and still not having our oyster shooter that we had mentioned to our waitress multiple times. The table next to us that ordered their food at least 30 mins after us got their food first then finally our food came out. The waitress did not apologize or offer any solutions she even just tossed us onto another waitress to close out our check! Worst service ever I have been to dirty bars with better service than that! Do better.

It was cool to revisit Jax Fish House after many years away and be reminded of just why they've been such an important pillar of Boulder's restaurant community for decades. The bright and breezy atmosphere is just as welcoming as ever and our jovial server handled our table of 8 with ease. Everything from oysters and mussels to the calamari and craft cocktails were truly firing on all cylinders. A couple of missteps were present however; as the peel & eat shrimp were quite tough and rubbery, while the gumbo cheese fries need a complete reimagining. The gumbo (although delicious) is much too watery at the bottom of the plate and make the fries too soggy to be enjoyable. These small complaints hardly necessitate lowering the five star rating, as human error must always be taken into account and no kitchen is infallible. Their ongoing efforts in championing sustainable seafood should never be left out of the conversation, though it unfortunately is at so many similar establishments. Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar is simply some of the best seafood I have ever found in Colorado, and has been for decades. That kind of consistency isn't just rare, it's virtually non-existent in the restaurant industry. Load me up another bowl of chowder please.

This was my first time at Jax though I have lived in Boulder for almost a decade. I my expectations were all exceed. The staff was kind, quick and professional. The food I think is well priced for the quality, amount and taste! Everything was delicious. I went with a couple of friends and everyone really enjoyed their meal (we all got something different) so I don't think you can go wrong. I would recommend making a reservation. And make sure you make it for the right location :)

We've been to Jax many times. The food was outstanding as always, however the service last night was lacking. Many items were out on the menu but not informed to us until some time after we ordered. Items were forget, other food items severely delayed. We will undoubtedly return but left last night a bit disappointed.

Great oysters and Halibut special, except the grittiness in the greens, clean the greens better. The chowder tasted great but be aware it is loaded with cream, doesn't sit well if you have lactose issues. Lobster roll and FF were tasty.

The food was great! I am so happy they added a vegetarian option on the menu and a tofu appetizer, kudos! I wish more of the fish entrees did not have sausage and or bacon etc... many people eat fish but not other meats and it limits the options. I love the atmosphere and the drink menu too!

The new remodeled space at Jax in Boulder is a great improvement! We had a meal here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it surpassed our expectations. They have built some great new two person booth seating near the bar and a nice new 6 top in the front window. The food was outstanding - had 18 oysters (4 different varieties), two appetizers and two entrees and everything was top notch. The scallops were perfectly cooked and seasoned and the Mahi on this evening was hearty. The service was also top-notch with our waiter (Zander) being super attentive, the oyster shucker bringing treats to our table and the kitchen bringing a special 'taste' for an appetizer. Cocktails were so tasty as well. One of the best meals we have had in Boulder and cannot wait to get back here soon! Thank you Big Red F for giving this beloved Boulder spot an update - it was worth it!Parking: Super easy parking, literally parked steps from the front door.

Celebrated my boyfriend‘s birthday. Started with calamari and lobster mac & cheese (technically aside, but works as a starter) I had the mahi-mahi and my boyfriend had the blackened catfish. We finished with apple crisp.

Solid all around. Great service and fantastic food. Appetizers were great and main dishes were excellent. Interior is a little crowded but not loud, which was nice. It's my third time here and each time is worth it. IMO one of the better restaurants in Boulder. Recommend and will be back.

Wow, we had an absolutely amazing time! I can't even begin to describe how incredible the seafood chowder was. And let me tell you, the homemade pasta with lobster and mushrooms were simply out of this world. It was so incredibly delicious, I couldn't get enough!

Great experience at Jax fish house. We came here for an early dinner before walking to a concert at the Boulder theater. We enjoyed a great selection of raw oysters, the char grilled oysters were incredible as well. Hot buttered lobster roll was perfect. Our server was prompt and helpful. We will certainly be back!
