Mason's Dumpling Shop - Boulder

Hubs and I came to Boulder today to tour Liberty Puzzles and wanted a reasonable lunch place. We landed on Masons cause we wanted something a little different. I'm vegan but hubs isn't so we're always on the lookout for places that give both options. edamame - just ok. Needs salt and/or spice. Pork dumplings- hubs loved. Said they were flavorful and filling Vegan chicken bun - filling. Fell apart (maybe cause I ate it slowly) Vegan dumplings - excellent. Will definitely have it again Reason for 3 stars- I hate forced tipping. I would have tipped MORE had I been able to wait until I finished because the service was excellent Best part- learned that there's a Mason's much closer to our house so we'll definitely try it again Updated from previous review on 2025-03-06

Mason’s makes the best dumplings and Chinese noodles I’ve had in Colorado! Given it’s a chain, it’s even more impressive! However, it took us 45min to get all our orders and the wood-ear mushroom appetizer actually arrived the last! It was lunch hour on a Thursday with a packed shop and it appears only 2 staff were working. Not sure if it’s a one-off crazy time. Finding parking was also very difficult.

One of my favorite spots in town. The staff are super friendly and feel like family. The front lady (Alea) always remembers my name and knows exactly what I want! A must visit!

This place is absolutely incredible. The food is amazing and the staff is super friendly. I highly recommend!!! The beef bun and soup dumplings are fantastic!!!

The worst place, very slow at everything, hire more employees, they are very slow and the food is the worst

Great dumpling spot! The flavors were surprisingly authentic. Seaweed salad had yummy Szechuan flavors. Boiled and panfried dumps were very good. Noodles in broth was great. Xiao long bao (crab) we're just okay, but everything else made up for it.

I was told it would be a 20 minute wait for fried dumplings over the phone. I waited 50 minutes to get my food. I wouldn’t have made my order for takeout on a time crunch if I had known it would take so long for something so simple. The food was fine, but not worth the wait. Also, I got home and one of the items was not included. Very disappointed.

I assume the food is good, but as a delivery driver this review is about the service — repeatedly ignored for 10 minutes, and when the order was finally ready, no one could be bothered to grab the bag and give it to me from behind the counter. I had to ask and they said I’d have to wait because they’re busy… Is treating each new person with some decency too much to ask for from behind the register?

What a wonderful and delicious restaurant in Boulder. Highlight recommend their sesame broccoli and yuzu/chicken soup dumplings. Prices are fair and the food is delicious.

Experienced this place today for the first time. Pan fried pork dumplings were done perfectly. Very nice counter & wait staff. Thank you for the suggestions, answered questions and helpful with dine-in. I would visit again, they were not too busy, good seating near windows and atmosphere.

Pan fried dumplings were burned on one side, and some were falling open in the to-go container. Food wasnt ready until 15 minutes after I received the text saying it was available for pickup. Since I received 3 separate texts and 2 emails from the shop after I placed the order, I figured at the very least this system would have been somewhat accurate. Apparently not.

Ate here with a friend recently. We really enjoyed our meals. I especially loved the noodles soup - so delicious! Atmosphere is casual with counter service. The person who helped us - Cleo - was great and helpful, and our food came quickly. We will definitely be back to try more dishes!
