As others have said, I've always wanted to love this place. It's the closest to my house but the unfriendly service is so unwelcoming and I won't be returning. Today, Saturday, around 3pm swing in to grab a coffee after a long day of work and meeting a dear friend who is unfortunately moving away. I walk in, ask the cashier if I can run to the bathroom before ordering (again I've been out working all day) she dismisses me with a "k". I find the response strange but move on. I come out to order my coffee and am looking at the snacks in the case trying to decide if I want to order something to eat too. Same cashier is staring at me and I say "sorry just taking a minute to look at the snacks". She gives me a super dirty look to where I was shocked and stared back at her with a questioning face. She blurts out "if you are just coming in to use our bathroom JUST SAY SO!". Again in disbelief, I let her know I'm actually meeting two friends here as if I need to justify my reason for coming into the coffee shop. I understand people might abuse using the restroom without purchasing but I also think giving customers the benefit of the doubt and a bit more grace would help this place out. We are a community and it's exhausting to be always met with awful attitudes here. Not worth returning or recommending in the future. Terrible service.

I want to love this place, I really do. We have been neighbors for years, and typically visit three to five days a week. Great coffee.Great pastries. Unfriendly service. This is hard to understand. I always come with a smile and a kind word, and I tip generously, yet Im usually met with a cold indifference. something that is unusual in these parts. Is it because I'm old? Horizontally challenged? Look funny? I'm always left wondering if these people are treated well by the owners? Who does the hiring? Maybe they need a nearby competitor? This place could be amazing. it's not. Bummer.

This place had a very good strawberry shortcake Danish, but my matcha latte that I ordered tasted more like a glass of warm milk than anything. The good and bad balanced each other out I guess.

It has become a tradition in my family to order Birthday Cakes from Spruce Confections. We had one yesterday and it reminded me, once again that this is the best buttercream I have ever tasted. I even asked the baker for a Dixie cup of frosting to eat while driving my cake home. Simply the best! Oh, don't forget to order ahead.

As a recent Colorado transplant, I've been searching for my favorite coffee shop/cafe in Boulder, along with a good breakfast sandwich. I tried Spruce on the recommendation of a new friend a few weeks ago. I really wanted a breakfast sandwich, and they said they were "sold out." Okay. Fine. (They had croissants in the case - can't you just make another one?) Anyway, I got the "Spruce juice," which is their sweetened ice coffee drink, and a scone. The scone was okay, but the Spruce juice was just abhorrent. Thankfully I can't recall the exact taste, but it was super burnt and unpleasant. Normally I can save shitty coffee drinks by pouring in a little flavored creamer at home, but this was SO BAD I just poured it out on the sidewalk. The next time I decided to try out Spruce was this morning. It was 9:00, and again, they were "sold out" of breakfast sandwiches, which is annoying. Just take them off the menu. I thought that if I tried to just get a regular coffee drink, things would be better. I got an oat milk latte with vanilla. After it cooled down from essentially boiling, the latte tasted super burnt and bitter, and the vanilla was undetectable. Again, undrinkable. I also got a blueberry lemon muffin, which was unpleasant to say the least. I don't know how they call themselves a bakery. After one bite, I decided to just trash everything I got at Spruce and head to a different coffee shop. The two stars are because the atmosphere is nice, and the employees are friendly. But god.......just no.

Stopped in after a little bike ride around Boulder for some much needed breakfast sustenance. They made me feel safe and I appreciated that they were enforcing social distancing measures. The breakfast burritos were stellar, as was the coffee! If I'm ever hungry in nobo again, I'll be back!

I love this place! I walk there with my puppy to get some coffee and breakfast. I love their coffee and my puppy loves their doggy cookies!
