I am not the most knowledgeable about sushi and rely on my wife for guidance there. There is lots of variety on the Sushi Zanmai menu, and what we chose last night was great! The restaurant is a bit noisy but not excessively so, and from past experience the tables a little further from the bar are quieter. I like the ambience a lot too, it's very lively. I highly recommend Sushi Zanmai!

Food was good and so was service. One thing that bothered us was the fact that they add a compulsory 22% gratuity in the check. Even though service was good, the amount t should be elective.

Wouldn’t recommend ordering delivery. The raw fish was chewy and tough. Haven’t had this issue with other sushi restaurant deliveries.

This place is so yummy! My group happened to find parking right outside this restaurant and we decided to try it out for lunch. I'm so glad we did because the sushi they prepare is fantastic and and so well prepared! The presentation of each plate is beautiful and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. The energy in this establishment is positive and tranquil and the decor is really cool. We had a great experience and we will definitely be back! Thank you Zanmai!!

After a long hike on a scorching day, shshi zanmai was a refreshing lunch in downtown boulder — where the food choices are endless! The two servers were busy running around accommodating a lunch hour rush and the sushi rolls were very solid. Would recommend and dine again.

I was visiting Boulder and we decided to give Zanmai a try based on the sushi recommendations I saw online. I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed the food here. We ordered a lot of food (Nigiri, Sashimi, Okonomiyami, Tempura, Yakiniku) for 3 people since we hadn't had sushi in a few days as we were traveling. We ended up emptying all the plates!

Went for my son's 16th bday. He wanted to switch it up from our regular Pearl St sushi places. Hadn't been for years (well before Covid). Was a busy Sunday evening. Sushi was fresh and very well made. Chicken tempura and dumpling platter were also delicious and large serving of tempura including vegetables, included miso soup and a salad. Both were very good. Family of 4 enjoyed all the rolls, especially Zanmai roll. Price was not cheap but what else is new! Service was slow but seemed understaffed and server refilled waters promptly and was friendly. I had mentioned it was my son's 16th bday and no acknowledgement or anything but understand times are tough. The ambiance is more casual than others on Pearl, but comfortable. All in all it was a very satisfying visit and better than I had remembered.

Some of the best sushi I have ever had. Sadly, being a family of vegetarians, we could not find very many vegetarian sushi rolls.

Vegetarian options: Not very many vegetarian options, and even if you do come here looking for vegetarian dishes, they are not very clearly labeled.

Server and atmosphere is nice but unfortunately the rolls are expensive for what they are. I had the Boulder roll which is around $18. It was slimy and the fish tasted old. I also had the ume shiso roll and it was super tiny. The rolls were small and disappointing. The chirashi bowls are super expensive and small in size. My family also complained about the quality and taste of the fish.
