I love this place

The famous Trident cafe and bookstore has a vibe that resonates with both a younger and older version of me. Tasty coffee and the friendly staff made the visit special. Thank you so much!

Best bookstore! Amazing vibes here, so many options of tea and they are all so good! Fun events and games to play like chess which is a super cool!

I'm sure the books are great. Coffee, not so much.

Amazing. Employee-owned. Bookstore. Performances. Outdoor back patio seating. Coffee shop with bakery nibbles, sometimes also food. Art, live music or poetry or book readings several times per week.

Entitled hippies serving overpriced coffee. At least thats what my wife said lmao. I got the trident drip coffee it had a very rich flavor I'd say. She got the cappuccino and she hated it.

Great coffee. Love the book store it’s connected to. And they have a great outdoor patio outback with tons of seating. Very shaded with sunny spots throughout. They do have pastries and oatmeal they put water in for you but I don’t come for the food. Mostly coffee, computer work and books than food

Perfect place to spend an evening browsing books with a nice coffee. It's almost always packed but even if it's just the books it's worth it

Let’s say I had a memorable experience… I specifically ordered an iced matcha with sugar free vanilla and lavender syrup. Immediately after, the barista questioned why I chose to order that saying “can I ask why?”. She then, in front of my friends, asked me if I was on a diet. I replied no accordingly and she refused to serve me sugar free vanilla unless I was on a diet because it was “so bad for me”. She continued to go into the details why it is so bad for me, so I just told her to put regular vanilla in the god damn drink. My dietary decisions are personal and should not be questioned, especially from a barista who I did not come to for nutritional consultation. I was hoping the drink would make up for it, but she then proceeded to make my matcha hot and then poured it over ice, making the ice melt, watering down the drink. This was an unacceptable interaction.

Great spot with consistently horrible service. At 7:05 I was told 5 minutes for poppy seed pastries because they were still in the oven downstairs. I came back 10 minutes later and asked again. The woman behind the counter glanced at the pastry case with a look like "obviously" they aren't here yet. Came back 5 minutes later and stood there while she talked with somebody for 10 minutes who I thought was a customer friend. No it was an employee -- who she could have told to go check on the pastries I was waiting for -- but instead he went to put tables outside. I was ignored for another 5 minutes before I just left at 7:30 and I'll never go back. The last time I was there 2 employees behind the counter stood talking forever and totally ignored me, the only customer, standing there waiting. Finally no smile no greeting. I ordered 4 poppy seed and the guy just grabbed the somewhat fragile pastries and shoved them haphazardly into a bag and handed it to me. Then -- like too many places these days they have the nerve to expect you to leave a tip.

Kind staff, large and cute back patio space with dog bowls. The patio can be reached from the back street, squirrel warning for reactive/high prey-drive dogs!
