Scam. 18% auto gratuity and 3% credit card charge. Turned into $18.50 for one crepe.
Food was surprisingly really good. People need to order faster though cause the line was insane đđ„đ„
Ordered one gluten-free Sweet crĂȘpe for $13.50 & one Gluten-free savory crepe for $18.00. Imagine my surprise when I was told I owed $50!!! I asked her why, and she was rather indignant and asked if I wanted a copy of the receipt and I said yes. Apparently there is a two dollar up charge for each gluten-free crĂȘpe (which is understandable) but I was also charged an 18% tip as well as a credit card fee Without my authorization. Mind you this is order at the window and seat yourself!!! WhenI asked for water, she said we had to purchase it!
Then, even though I emphasized twice that I had celiac and needed it to be gluten-free, (and she assured me that what I ordered was gluten-free) it came with graham cracker crumbs inside, which are not!!! Upon questioning her a second time she said no they are not gluten-free! Why on earth would they give me gluten-free crĂȘpes and fillings that are not gluten-free???!!! Yes, I got sick!
Never again!!
Delicious! Great value. Sadly understaffed, but the one waitress/cashier/busser/hostess with the mistress was amazing. Will stop again.
Not worth it! Just walk a block to Trolley Crepes which is the same but reasonably priced. The crepe cart is generating at least $5.4M in annual revenue, and the owner still âneedsâ to charge a mandatory 18% tip and 3% required credit card charge? No other normal business does this!
Why is it a scam? The menu next to the sidewalk has no mention of the 18% mandatory tip. Itâs not until you get to the front of the line after youâve been waiting for 10-50 minutes that the point of sale discloses there is a mandatory tip. Itâs not transparent pricing, itâs a scam.
I personally asked the manager if the 18% tip was mandatory, and they said âyes, unfortunately, the owner has decided to take this direction with his business strategy.â If the non-existent service of self-serve tables and plastic chairs outside are so amazing, then disclose the 18% mandatory tip at the front of your business in gigantic font. Alex LaMarca (owner), no customers want a mandatory tip, but itâs a profitable short term money grab for you isnât it.
Alex LaMarca, in 2016 you stated on a busy day, your team is making 900 crepes. You now have two crepe restaurants. 900 crepes X $15 per crepe X 200 busy days X two busy crepe restaurants = $5.4 MILLION dollars. Canât you can afford to pay your own workers a livable wage and not force your customers to do it for you? If customers werenât tipping because they waited too long for a crepe, maybe you should figure out the staffing.
Glad to see there was almost no line at crepe cart over Labor Day week, as this place is overhyped. Itâs just a crepe. Take your business elsewhere.
Incredible eye-opening experience. I had no idea crepes could be so savory and their gluten free options were just as good as their regular options. Can't wait to go back!
This once iconic spot has gone completely downhill. Orders are placed through a single machine, and then they have the audacity to both include a mandatory 18% gratuity AND ask for a tip after?! Not to mention they were out of a bunch of items, though this was not mentioned by the machine, so we made everyone behind us wait while we tried to find the items we wanted that they were out of. A human taking orders could have completely expedited this. There were bugs everywhere. Finally, the staff were lazing around and rude. Management should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. At least the crepe itself was still very good.
We always go to this place when we go to Breckenridge but when we went today after not having been there in years, we ordered 3 crepes but my wife was dumbfounded why the total ended up to $66. We didnt get the receipt after ordering off the computer so had to ask staff for it which took a while as well. What we found out was they charge automatic tip of 18 percent but they still ask you for more tip at the order station which we gave since we didnt know of the mandatory tip. We didnt see the sign for mandatory tip until after we ordered. They need to put that in the screen or on the monitor instead of on the wall where people might not see it because they go straight for the order screen. Also as a business, you shouldnât charge a mandatory tip when all you are doing is making the food and giving it to the customer. Any fast food restaurant like McDonaldâs or Taco Bell does that already but I donât see them charging tip , much less 18 percent. Tip is supposedly to be freely given for EXCEPTIONAL service, not DEMANDED from customers for doing nothing else. You donât even wait on your customers. Why do you charge tip? Seems like a quick money grab especially from tourists who donât know. I bet you locals donât eat here and I will no longer be going here anymore. There are many other crepe places that offer better prices, food and service.
1 automated kiosk. Half the items were sold out. Long line. Zero assistance for staff literally just walking by and talking with other employees. The kiosk was disfunctinal, very slow. And just a painful way to wrap up an otherwise great day in Breckenridge Donât waste your time
Our family has loved this crepe stand for a long time, and look forward to it on our Breckenridge trips. This past weekend was disappointing to say the least. The high price, the unspecified included gratuity, ask for an additional tip after and the general poor customer service / decrease in overall quality, left us frustrated. To say the least, we do not recommend.

SCAM!! This is not the quaint and homey establishment it once was when I was growing up. The integrity of the business is gone. There is now a mandatory service fee, and the crepes are far higher priced than they used to be. The sizes of the crepes have also decreased significantly. My wife and I got just two crepes and our total was $37. Business owners need to realize that itâs a better long term business plan to provide a good product at a reasonable price, garnering a good reputation that will always result in higher revenue in the long run. Because of this most recent visit, Crepe a La Carte has lost the business of this 10+ year customer.
My son and I went to Crepes A La Cart in Breckenridge today. Iâve been their customer since 2010, so I thought it would be a great place to grab lunch. The food is still delicious, and their employees are pleasant, but Iâm giving two starts because of their change in business practices and not addressing customer concerns. I didnât realize until after I placed my order that they charged a mandatory 18% gratuity, and then ask for more tips. The owners may try to convince you that itâs not mandatory, but you cannot change it. There was one other person complaining as we were having our food. Additionally, they charge you extra if you want things to go. As a result, I spent over $70 for three crepes (one to go, and that was a simple Nutella one), a chocolate milk and a lemonade, including the mandatory tip and the 3% credit card charge. Several customers have requested more transparency, without any changes. The owner is quick to post a ChatGPT generated response to all negative reviews. Itâs such a shame, because this establishment has been near and dear to my heart.
Nice and fast option for lunch!
The crepes were absolutely delicious, and the service was great. Even when thereâs a line, the wait is never that long.
Love the crepes and the choices!!!
