Old Mission Mexican Restaurant

This restaurant was pretty good. But they don't allow dogs on the patio. While some people may think this is trivial, you have to understand that if you're traveling, it's 90° out, and you have a dog... you can't just leave them in the truck. It would be great if every restaurant would get on the same page about this. There are so many that are very dog friendly, but this isn't one of them.

Killer old school Mexican food. Our server was super nice and attentive! Vermicelli was spot on!!

The rice was hard and cold tacos were horrible

My father and I have always come to get something to eat when we're passing through Canon City from Salida on the way home to Colorado Springs.

So my wife and I both had the same thing mission burrito. We didn't get our beans and rice with our meal. Food was not that good it was sloped together. The waitress didn't ever bring my drink. It was an over all bad experience. I'd pick any where but here.

I am not sure why you would hot enchiladas with cold lettuce and tomato that stupid doesn't belong on enchiladas and why no charro beans Rice was dried up must have been a chef Mic..
And the the chips and hot sauce the chips were new ones mixed with old stale ones and the tiniest bowl of hot sauce I've ever seen

I hate to leave this review because I feel like the staff was really trying, but there were some things I couldnt overlook.

1) There were a few errors on our order. The waitress brought me cheese and onion enchiladas instead of beef enchiladas that I ordered, and while they were replaced, the waitress was initially hesistant to replace them. Also, my wife said she got the wrong taco, though she didn't say anything.

2) The Chile relleno I got was awesome until I got to the center. The center was ice cold. I didn't say anything as id already complained about the enchiladas.

3) For the fried ice cream, I was given a plastic spoon instead of a metal spoon, and when I asked for a metal one because the ice cream was rock hard, I was told they were out of clean spoons. More on this later.

4) They were talking about how busy and slammed they were but ive worked in restaurants and only about maybe a third of the tables were occupied if that. I thought maybe we had gotten in at the end of a rush, but the stress on their end seemed to continue into our meal.

5) The big one. A plastic piece of what i later found out was seran wrap made it into my fried ice cream. When I informed the waitress, she seemed nonchalant about it, at least until later. Not a big deal to me, but if that'd gone to a child or elderly couple, talk about a major choking hazard.

At the very end, practically the entire staff stopped me on my way out the door and profusely apologized for the seran wrap. I was given a free fried ice cream to go even though I hadn't asked which is why I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 Side note, there was residual grease on the ice cream and a hint of odor that told me the Fryer grease hadn't been changed in days. I ended up throwing it out. I was also told there were only 8 spoons in the whole restaurant and they'd been asking the owner to order some for awhile.

Bottom line: I can tell the staff is really trying and that most are good peopl3, but I also sense that there is a lot of disorganization and chaos behind the scenes. They are good workers without direction. It seems like the staff is being set up to fail. The whole place seems like a rudderless ship. I'm not sure if its from bad management or a cheap owner, (or both), but its going to bite this place at some point if something doesnt change quick. I'm not from the area and I definitely won't ever be back, but for the sake of the good workers on the staff, I wish them luck.

Food was decent, but you get very small portions for the high price. Actually questioned them to see if they accidentally gave me a lunch portion, but alas, not the case. Not worth it.

Good place to stop traveling through

Honestly got the wrong Oder and called the store to address the problem being respectful. Lady talked over me and hung up on me. Will not be eating here again terrible customer service.

Cute place! It was busy and service was good for such a busy night. Tables are squished together though - hard to get out of your seat when the table is full behind you. Food was good. Good stop after a day at climbing at

The older lady with the ponytail, dark brown hair was extremely rude as I entered the building to pick up my order. Instead of asking me what I needed she rudely told me I can’t enter the section where the orders are picked up. Ok the section was closed but she could have been nice about it. Another worker helped me. Otherwise the food is good but she was down right rude!

One of the better Mexican restaurants in Canon City. We always enjoy eating here for lunch. Very reasonable prices, and the food come out quickly. Friendly staff. Fajitas are good here.
