Black Forest Bistro absolutely nailed it. We celebrated our 32nd anniversary with their Cheese Wheel Experience, and from start to finish, it was flawless. We were seated promptly, greeted with genuine warmth, and served by a team that clearly takes pride in their work. Our server knew every special by heart — a rare thing these days — and the tableside chef turned dinner into a performance, melting parmesan into a creamy, rich sauce right before our eyes. The shrimp was the perfect addition, and the garlic bread was a great accompaniment. A must. The atmosphere was just right — lively but comfortable enough for real conversation. Every staff member we encountered treated guests with class and care, the kind that can’t be faked. When dessert arrived — a complimentary chocolate treat — it sealed the night. After 32 years of anniversary dinners, this one stands out. Local, intimate, and exceptional — Black Forest Bistro reminds you why dining out can still feel special.

Service was really bad this Place is not what it appears it actually kinda sucks. It’s unfortunate. Also since my mother posted a review on Colorado Springs’s foodie on Facebook. It was taken down so I’m going to express and post her comment….(have had over 39 comments on this post, posting the exact disappointment and more…) * we have had some of the best chefs in Colorado Springs reach out to us personally to offer to make her a really beautiful dinner * as an owner as a restaurant, be extremely embarrassed.. my mothers review: “I had a horrible experience at the black forest bistro for my birthday yesterday. I was super excited to go and my daughter made the reservation and had to put 50$ to reserve. We got there a little early and they were closed. When they opened we went in and i asked about the cheese wheel. They said they only serve it for reservations at 730 ? I was surprised because that is what is all over social media. She said you need to look at the fine print. I never read the fine print and certainly not on a reservation that cost $50. I asked them if they had any noodles for my son who is 11. She said butter noodles - then came back and said no butter noodles! I looked over menu and couldn’t find any thing my son could eat . We ordered some wine and ordered an uber. The lady then asked what we wanted to eat - so I told her we were just going to have wine while we wait for uber. She then said we couldn’t sit at the table and had to go to the bar. The bar was crowded and of course because my son is 11 he wasn’t able to sit at bar. Everyone at the restaurant had stressed energy. Except for the bartender that smiled and seemed happy. The place is not as it seems. I always imagined it as a cute bistro with cozy energy and fine dining. Instead it turned out to be a hole in the wall with stressed energy and the star of the show - the cheese wheel is only served for one hour . Just very disappointing. Then when i posted on cos foodies there were 39 people that expressed their disappointment as well. I was messaged that the owners friends hosted that page took the post down and blocked all comments.
Don’t bother driving out there - a long trip and no cheese wheel You”

Staff is absolutely horrible.

Black Forest Bistro is a gem to be cherished! Chef Johnson adds all the right touches to her menu. This was our first visit and we can't wait to go back! I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass and my husband ordered the award winning Korean Sticky Noodles, both dishes were outstanding. Our server Tyler was very on point and his suggestions were spot on. If you are looking for a date night, this place should be on your radar.

A quaint place that makes wonderful food of all kinds! We did the Fetuccini served tableside from inside a cheese wheel this time! If you go make sure your reservation are at the right time for this special meal! All the food options are excellently prepared!

We had such a nice date night at the cozy Black Forest Bistro. Our waiter was hilarious and helpful as usual at explaining the menu and the cheese wheel experience. Read: experience. This is not a quick dinner, bur one that you can sit and enjoy for a while. This is a lovely small business with exciting taste for the area.
The only downside of our experience was having to hear Zach (see peachy review below) loudly, and obnoxiously complaining at the table next to us. Although… it was funny, free entertainment. Good things happen to those aren’t rude 🥰

Highly disappointed. Service was slow, it was busy but it isn't a large place. We ordered the cheese wheel, it took one and a half hours to be served, even after the waiter said we were next, 3 tables that were seated after us were served first. The person doing the at table service blamed the waiter, he blamed the kitchen.
The food was good, not great. Specialty drinks were good but a little small.
Overall, the wait and price for what we received was not worth it. We will not be going back.

My favorite hidden gem. Everything on the menu is fantastic, especially the sushi nachos. Everyone is so friendly and especially appreciative of a great birthday with our waitress Joanna. Always look forward to any drink, meal, or just the ambiance of being there.

The service was fabulous and the best thing about this place! Kudos to all the staff.

It was our anniversary so they gave us a card, small box of chocolates, and a free slice of cake for dessert. It was a very kind and unexpected gesture. However, if you don't like carrot cake you're out of luck. There was no offer of choices for the free slice. Still, it was free, so🤷🏻‍♀️

The atmosphere was nice but nothing special. Actually, I would have preferred to sit in the bar which had a much cozier atmosphere.

Our table was literally right at the door to the dining room and restrooms. Our table and my husband's chair were literally into the doorway, impeding people that are constantly walking by. The gal doing the cheese wheel even made comments about how difficult it always was to do for this table. The kicker, the place was nearly empty when we arrived and we could have sat out of the way. The next couple that walked in were given choices of tables. Tables that were out of the way! Many of those tables remained enjoy y during our entire evening so there was no reason we had to sit in the doorway.

Now for the food...
Some was amazing, like the Buratta appetizer! Others, like the Amuse Bouche were terrible. The bread tasted stale.

My husband brought me here for our anniversary because I'd always wanted to try the cheese wheel experience. It was a huge disappointment! The whole experience lasted only a couple of minutes (maybe because of it table location?) and the fettuccine wasn't even good. I've had much better fettuccine at local Italian restaurants. The broccolini I ordered to go with my cheese wheel pasta had zero flavor, however, the garlic bread was perfection.

My husband opted for the cowboy pork chops, which was described as pork chops with six cheese scalloped potatoes. When it arrived, it looked like pork and beans over potatoes. My husband said it tasted good, but seriously, chopped pork and beans for this supposedly upscale bistro?!

If it weren't for the wonderful service and the amazing appetizer, it would have been a completely disappointing evening. I doubt we'll go back again, but if we do, it definitely won't be for the cheese wheel.

This was my first time going here. Everything was absolutely perfect! This restaurant has the best staff of any establishment i have ever been to. From the host at the front door to the servers to the chef, they could not be more wonderful! Our server, Johanna was marvelous! She was very attentive and friendly as well as being both personal and professional at the same time. The food was excellent and the atmosphere made you feel right at home. I couldn't give this place higher marks across the board. Everyone should try this place at least once so they can have the best dining experience of their lives. Black Forest Bistro, thank you so very much for such an amazing night and experience! We will be back, for sure!
